EDITH (WINTHER) BROWN December 22, 1921- May 13, 2012 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, at the age of 90 years, peacefully with her family at her side, on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the Beausejour Hospital Born in Tversted, Denmark, Edith immigrated to Canada in December 1927 with her parents and brothers. The family settled in Ostenfeld, MB and operated a dairy farm. Edith met Marvin Brown in 1945 on his return from the Second World War and married her one true love in October 1946. Working side by side for over 33 years, they took great pride in operating their successful dairy farm in Dugald, MB, retiring from farming in 1979. They raised three wonderful children, Lorraine, Ken and Verna. Edith was predeceased by her parents, Christen and Christine Winther, husband and love of her life Marvin in 1987, and sister-in-law Frances Winther. • I wish to express my condolences to the family. I was truly to sadden to see that your mother had passed away. I hardly new her but just talking with her at the hospital, I truly admired her. • First I would give my condolences to the whole Winther Family over there.I am so sorry for your loss. Edith was my Dad Erik's cousin, and every Christmas, Edith and him wrote each other a letter. Edith wrote in English and Dad in Danish, so I had to translate Edith's letter for Dad. My Dad was always looking forward to have those Christmas letters. I remember Christmas 2009. Dad did not get any letter from Edith, and he was very worried, so after some work by the computer I finally found Harry Winther, who told me that Edith was in the hospital, but getting well. My Dad was very relieved to hear that, even if they only wrote letters to each other once a year, they were still close. I remember Edith visiting Tversted in the seventies, and that was so nice to meet her. She was very warmhearted. • Auntie Edith was the dearest of ladies. Kind, sweet, loving, thoughtful and she loved a good chuckle. I'll always remember Christmas Eve at Granny and Grandpa Winther's...looking forward to those "special gifts that Dad (Kai) and Auntie Edith always exchanged. I think the chicken feet with the painted toe nails went back and forth for a number of years! I'm sure Auntie Edith is having a wonderful time in heaven right now.. As she rejoins her love...Uncle Marvin. We'll all miss you.... - Posted by: Faith (Winther) Haack (niece) on: May 16, 2012
