DAVID MICHAEL TOWNSEND It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David, on May 16, 2012, after his courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 15, 1956, in Winnipeg. Left to cherish his memory: caring wife Darlah, son Peter, daughter Karalee, both who he was so very proud of, and best pal Shiloh. Brothers Greg (Barb), Bruce (Mary), Ken (Joan), sister Lesley Hazlehurst (Rod), nieces and nephews: Jeff, Allison, Kelly, Kyla, Dylan, Sarah, Jessie, and Danny as well, many relatives and countless friends. He was predeceased by his courageous father Gordon, and sweet, loving mother Lorraine. Just like his father he will always be remembered for his quick wit, fountain of knowledge, trying to make the world a better place and his sense of humour, he always had a joke ready for you. He was a proud hockey and football dad, and always bragged about his extremely intelligent daughter. He always put others before himself and was ready to lend a helping hand. He was proud to grow up in the north end of Winnipeg, and thought there was no place like it. He worked at 1010 Sinclair, Winnipeg Transit (27 years) and Building Products. Everywhere he worked and went he made everlasting friendships. A private family interment will take place at Green Acres Funeral Home, and a celebration of life will be held at the West Kildonan Legion, 1748 Main St., Winnipeg on Tuesday, May 22 at 7:00 p.m. Special thanks to CancerCare, W.H.R.A. Palliative Care and Seven Oaks Hospital staff, for all of their great work. Those wishing to do so may send donations to CancerCare Manitoba. WE LOVE YOU GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery (204) 222-3241 Condolences may be sent to www.greenacresfuneralhome.com

David is a precious soul. He lightened the load of others with his easy ways and words. David’s goodness will live on in the hearts and lives of those connected with him. I know David is as much a part of the world to come as the world he has passed through. God bless David's family and His purpose in them. - Posted by: Denise Gamey (neighbour from Magnus Avenue) on: May 22, 2012

My knowlege of David Townsend pretty much was he was a great person. When we would run into each other here and there our conversations would go on and on. As if we thought we could talk forever. Sometimes I would be a bit down and then there he was and by the time we had our lengthy chat I was no longer down. I really did like this man, and I am sure in our world the ripples will never end. - Posted by: Harold Rikheim (We were always on the same track.) on: May 19, 2012

Deepest condolences to the whole family. Know that Dave would have been able to find something light-hearted in sad time such as this. He was very fond of Harry Nielson and would listen to him a lot in his days. HE TOLD ME THAT HIS CHILDREN WERE ARROWS THAT HE AIMED AT A PERFECT BULLSEYE. HE WILL REMAIN IN MY SPEED DIAL. - Posted by: grant scibak (friend) on: May 19, 2012
