SHIRLEY I. WOOD (nee PARKINSON) August 8, 1935 - May 17, 2012 After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother on Thursday, May 17, 2012.. She passed peacefully at home with her family at her side. Left to cherish her memory are her children Terry (Richard), Jeff (Tammy), and Jill (Mike), her grandchildren Tawni (Chris), Ian (Laine), Brian, Jade, Shai, Nicole and Henry, also her siblings Bill (June), Leigh (Marge), and Sue (Allan). Shirley was born in Birch River, Manitoba, and lived in Winnipeg with her husband Elery since 1971. She was predeceased by her parents Ester and Cecil Parkinson, and her husband Elery. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Pitz and Linda, and all the staff from CancerCare Manitoba, as well as all the staff from Palliative Care including Maryanne, and in particular, Mom's nurse Louise, with whom she had a special bond. We would also like to extend a thank you to the staff and health care aides from Drake Medox. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shirley's memory to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. A celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
