WILLIAM (BEN) HLADUN November 7, 1923 May 18, 2012 After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, William on Friday, May 18, at home surrounded by his family. William was born in Mikado, Saskatchewan to George and Anne Hladun. After completing high school he moved to Winnipeg where he was called to duty to service in the war effort. Dad met mom in 1951 and they were married in 1953. After the war dad was employed with the C.N.R. for 36 years. Dad enjoyed the beauty of nature as well as outdoor sports; baseball in particular. He was also an avid reader in his spare time finding interest in numerous subjects. Dad enjoyed the company of his beloved wife, his sons and grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Dad was always ready and willing to offer his help to all in time of need. Left to cherish William's memory are his wife Sonia and two sons Craig, of Winnipeg and James (Yvonne) and grandchildren Shayna and Ryan all of Winnipeg as well as numerous brothers and one sister Cassie, nephews and nieces. Dad was predeceased by his parents and one sister Mary. We would like to thank the CancerCare team, doctors and coordinators. This team allowed us to lovingly care for William, as he wished to remain at home and continue on his final journey with comfort, dignity and grace. Pallbearers will be Gary Matkaluk, Leonard Harapiak, Harvey Harapiak, David Hladun, Craig Hladun and James Hladun. Funeral services for William will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, the Very Reverend Father Isidore Dziadyk officiating, with reception to follow.
