CHRISTINE MABEL JOPLING (nee HALL) It is with great sorrow and sadness we are announcing the sudden passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Mabel, at the age of 94. Mom was predeceased by her husband Bill, her parents Ada and Norman Hall, her brother Stan and Clarence, and her sister Beatrice McKenzie. Left to forever cherish Mabel's memory are her five children Norman (Joy), Wayne, John (Jane), Lloyd, Lois (Derek), her 15 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, her sister Marian Demetrioff, numerous nieces, nephews and many family friends. Mom was born and raised in St. Boniface. She was an avid softball player in her younger years starting with the Norwood Girls team from 1932 to 1935. She joined the St. Boniface Senior Girls Softball team and played second base till 1949, never sitting out a game and winning many championships. In 2003 Mom was inducted, along with her team members from 1944 to 1948, into the Manitoba Softball Hall of Fame. The Winnipeg Tribune, August 8, 1945 reported Amill, McKenzie (Mabel's sister), Klassen and Jopling batting in that order claim Murderers Row for the A's . Mom loved to fish. In 1953 she joined a bus load of women; she continued to go till 1997. She had an amazing memory with a positive outlook that made all the people she met love her.
