She will also be greatly missed and remembered by many other family members and friends. Elisabeth was born on January 29, 1915 in Staldzen, Latvia and immigrated to Canada on September 27, 1952. She was employed as a seamstress for many years and eventually worked as a forelady with Kaplan Manufacturing until 1988 when she retired to enjoy her many hobbies including sewing, crocheting and knitting. One of her greatest pleasures was working out in the garden. Her backyard was a showcase of amazing flowers, tomato plants and a magnificent rose garden. She loved to share advice on gardening and stories from her childhood, from the war years, and beyond. The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to all her great friends, friendly visitors, and nursing staff who looked after her and visited with her throughout her life and at Bethania Personal Care Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to your favourite charity. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street with Pastor Don Engel officiating, interment to follow. • I visited Elizabeth a number of times at Bethania, and I so enjoyed her sparkling greetings and her animated conversations. Elizabeth was so full of life and it was a privilege to spend time with her. She was always generously slipping me some chocolate or other treats. Her life story was both sobering and amazing. I look forward to meeting her again in heaven. To Illa, Karl and Ed, I pray for comfort for you. I was so blessed to see your faithful care for your mom. You are inspiring.
