GERALD PIROTTON
Date of Passing: May 28, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALD PIROTTON 1954 - 2012 After a heroic struggle, Gerry died peacefully Monday evening, May 28, 2012, at the Riverview Hospital. Leaving to mourn his passing is his wife Denyse, his son Nicholas, many friends and family. Gerry was predeceased by his sister Wanda, his father Nick and mother Phyllis. Known for his helpful manner and many skills, Gerry was the go to guy who seemed to know how to fix most anything. His greatest joy was helping others. For much of his life Gerry worked in the family business (Brookside Memorials) and later opened his own business (Logan Rad) before illness forced him to retire early. Although diagnosed with a serious illness and often struggling with physical discomfort, Gerry maintained a positive manner - never complaining and looking at the best in any situation. With every new loss in ability he found ways to compensate. Gerry was a loving husband, a devoted son and father and a friend to many. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 1 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Bernadette's Church, 820 Cottonwood Rd., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Special thanks to the health team who over the years have provided Gerry with exceptional care. We are especially grateful to Dr. Cummings and the team at Health Sciences Centre. Very sorry to hear of Gerald's passing. We never met but we are related by his grandfather Nicolas Pirotton who was my great-grandmother's brother. - Posted by: John Potter (Distant relative on Pirotton side) on: Jul 21, 2012

I remember Auntie Phyllis sharing the pride she had in Gerry - his courage, his daily calls to her and his always being there for her when she had to call on him. She also had great admiration for his wife and son, and their dedication to Gerry. I am sorry, Denyse, that I was out of town for the service - my condolences to you and Nick. - Posted by: Sharon Barbour (Cousin) on: Jun 04, 2012

C'est avec regret que j'ai appris votre perte de Gerry. Je vous offre, Denyse et Nicholas, mes plus sincères sympathies. C'est très difficile de perdre un époux/parent encore jeune. - Posted by: Gérald Gagnon (Ancien directeur Howden/Béliveau) on: Jun 02, 2012

Upbeat outlook no matter the situation, that's what I most admire in Gerry! If we could each have even half the attitude, optimism and humour that shines through him. He will be missed.... - Posted by: Sandy (friend) on: Jun 01, 2012

Gerry.. Was a character. The last few visits at his family home in Niakwa Park I felt honored to see the strength he had despite his illness. Sometimes you just meet someone who is naturally funny and kind. Gerry was genuine. My condolences to Denyse and Nick Jr. - Posted by: Laurie Gyde (Friend) on: May 31, 2012

Gerry was a dear friend of mine. I met him at Health Sciences Centre when he was an inpatient about 8 or 9 years ago. After Gerry was released from the hospital in good health we stayed friends right up until his passing. Gerry helped many people including patients at the Rehab Hospital when he was a volunteer. Gerry always lent his posive ear to me and gave me sound advice. I truly respect and admire Gerry - he knew how to make people laugh. I will miss him a great deal! - Posted by: Clayton Carriere (Friend) on: May 31, 2012
