Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTANLEY LAWRENCE WHALEN Stanley Whalen of Thompson, MB, formerly of Treherne, MB passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Northern Spirit Manor in Thompson, MB at the age of 93 years. Left to mourn Stanley's passing are his children Lynda (Vince) Doucet of Thompson, MB, Garry (Marian) Whalen of Winnipeg, MB, Ronald (Darlene) Whalen of Hope, BC, Kathleen (David) Hennessey of Stony Plain, AB, and Gordon (Lisa) Whalen of Winnipeg, MB, as well as 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn are brother-in-law Kelly (Lorna) Jackson and sisters-in-law Lillian Woodward and Thelma Jackson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Stanley was predeceased by his wife Gertrude (nee Jackson), daughter Faye Anne in infancy, son-in-law Morley English, parents Ernest and Lucy (nee Price) Whalen, brother Laurie Whalen, and sister Nora (Merton) Robertson. Stanley was born in Treherne, MB and lived on the family farm until 1980 when he moved to town. He worked a variety of jobs including farming, driving a creamery truck, and course maintenance at the Delahunt Golf Course. He retired at the age of 65 years. During his retirement years, Stanley enjoyed family and friends, playing cards and taking drives through the country. Stanley was well known for his sense of humour and wit. The family would like to thank the staff of the Northern Spirit Manor in Thompson, MB for their exceptional, faithful and loving care of our father and grandfather. Funeral Service will be held at Treherne United Church, Treherne, MB at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012, with Sandra Rex officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held in the lower hall of the church. Everyone is welcome. Interment in Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel Cemetery Fund c/o Coral Jones, Box 224, Treherne, MB R0G 2V0. Very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He was a very good man and enjoyable to be around. Visited him a few times at the house and a couple of times at the Treherne Hospital location.
