Condolences & Memories (12 entries)

  • Hi David and Louise, So sorry to hear about Gerry! I am in shock. We dated for a short while in late 1980's and continued our friendship even after I married and moved to Australia with my hubby. Thinking of you both. - Posted by: Judy (Melbourne, Australia) (friend) on: Nov 12, 2013

  • Hi David, not sure you remember me. You were quite a bit younger when we last met. I met and served with your dad in St, Pierre. He became a very good friend and is responsible for getting me involved with computers when they first came out. Of course being single he always accepted an invitation to dinner. He loved spaghetti, but, they had to be 'skinny noodles" not the fat ones. I could never understand how one person could be so messy when eating spaghetti. And I mean every time...If he was working, he would always take off his shirt before sitting down. Thankfully, he always wore a t-shirt. He was a good man and friend. It takes times like this to remind us all of how precious friends are and to give ourselves a kick in the butt for letting them fade away. Be proud of him and who you are. • If anyone would like to share memories of my Dad, I would love to hear them. dave.leacock@gmail.com Thank you, David - Posted by: David Leacock (son) on: Oct 06, 2012

  • Just learned of Gerry's passing today (20 Sep 2012). I worked with Gerry in Souris and was his trainer during his recruit field training. We shared many likes and had a good relationship until both he and I were transferred. I had a nickname for Gerry - "CRASH" - after he had a police car accident out of his jurisdiction. He gave me a book when I was transferred and I still own the book with his gift transcription, signed CRASH. I am so sorry for your loss and only wish Gerry and I had kept closer touch with each other. He was one of the good ones. - Posted by: Tom Boyle (friend/co-worker) on: Sep 20, 2012

  • I was very sad to hear of Gerry's passing which I heard from another Troopmate just a couple of days ago. He was a great guy always good for a laugh and a joke when we trained together at "Depot" so many years ago. My sympathy to his family. - Posted by: Duane Walsh (Troopmate Troop 18 1974/75) on: Aug 29, 2012

  • I will always have fond memories of Gerry from our short time together in Depot. We always had a lot of laughs and good times outside the confines of the training centre. RIP Gerry. My condolences to his family. Rob Robinson - Lethbridge, AB. - Posted by: Rob Robinson (Troopmate 18 Troop 74/75) on: Jun 27, 2012

  • I got to know Gerry in his time in St.Pierre w/ the RCMP. He & David would come by the restaurant for "microwaved icecream"....lol David liked it that way. Gerry was a very kind, caring and genuine friend. He will be sadly missed. My deepest sympathy to Louise, David & his family. - Posted by: Monica Petkau (friend) on: Jun 07, 2012

  • So sad how friends move around and lose touch. Jerry was a friend first and co-worker second. He spent many hours at my home in St. Pierre. To live in the hearts of those left behind is not to die. God speed Jerry. - Posted by: Cliff Russell (Friend/Co-worker) on: Jun 03, 2012

  • Sorry for your loss, he was a very nice person and friendly man. - Posted by: Elaine (from Grant Park mall) on: Jun 01, 2012

  • I also worked with Gerry for a short while. He was SO nice to work with. Sympathy to his family. - Posted by: Judy Bond (Co-worker) on: May 31, 2012

  • Always a cheerful smile and good morning at MTS on Corydon - such a nice man. - Posted by: Cathy Maughan () on: May 31, 2012

  • Gerry and I worked together on a Government term position. Gerry was a delight to work with. He was kind, thoughtful and had a great sense of humor which he utilized to inspire his staff. Although our time working together was brief the mere mention of his name would always bring a smile to my face. He will be missed. - Posted by: Irene Daley (Worked together ) on: May 31, 2012
