JEANNE ALLAN 1920-2012 Jeanne Allan passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital in her 92nd year, following a lengthy illness. Left to cherish her memory are her son Keith (Janet), twin daughters Marilyn (Alan) and Lori (Mowat), as well as grandsons Joel and Justin Hayes. Also mourning her passing are sisters Madeline Roscoe and Noreen McPhail. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Aubrey in 1979 and brother-in-law Fred Roscoe in 1995. Jeanne was born in Brandon, Manitoba and spent her childhood on the family farm where she began her lifelong love of horses. She trained to be a registered nurse at the Montreal General Hospital, graduated in 1943 and then returned to Winnipeg to pursue a career in nursing. In 1954 she married Aubrey Allan and devoted her life to raising her family. Jeanne was an exceptional example of what a wife, mother and grandmother should be. Later in life she returned to her nursing career. At the age of 63, Jeanne fulfilled a childhood dream of learning to fly and loved taking to the skies whenever she could. Jeanne's commitment to her faith and others was continually evident to those who had the privilege of knowing her. The following poem found in her belongings; exemplified Jeanne's life. Do you pause to see the sunrise As you start each golden day? Do you stop to watch the sunset In the midst of work or play? Do you listen to another As he shares his dreams with you? Do you give him inspiration For great deeds that he would do? Do you give a cheerful greeting To the persons who are sad? Do you reach out, smile and touch them? Do you leave them feeling glad? Do you give yourself in service? Are your motives good and true? When you spend life helping others, They will see God's love in you. -William Arthur Ward At Jeanne's request, a private family service has taken place. Pallbearers were Joel Hayes, Justin Hayes, Dan Chase, Hilary Chase, Gordon Wood, and Ken Ziesmann. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Wayne Poon, of the Assiniboine Clinic and the exceptional staff of the Palliative Care Unit, St. Boniface Hospital. Our family met Jeanne when we moved in the neighborhood over 10 years ago. She was a kind, caring and friendly person with lots of interesting stories. She was very nice to me when I would go over there to borrow a cup of sugar when I would run out. She will be missed and will not be the same not seeing her in the front yard. Our deepest sympathies. Our prayers and thoughts go out to all of the family. Take care. - Posted by: Bernadette (Neighbor) on: Jun 06, 2012

I came to know Jeanne through the Ninety Nines, organization of women pilots. We particpated in fly-ins to various places. Jeanne was known for her great costumes on Halloween fly-ins. She also did a great job organizing airports for the Ninety Nines' annual Poker Derby. We didn't see Jeanne in her last few years, but thought of her often. She was a delightful, generous and caring person. We know continued to nurse friends, neighbours and relatives long after her nursing employment. We will miss her. - Posted by: Mary Lou Milhausen (Flying friend) on: Jun 03, 2012

Keith, Marilyn, Lori, My condolences to all of you and your families at the difficult time. I have many fond memories of your mom from the lake. She was an amazing, gentle, yet strong woman. My prayers are with you all, and I'm sure there is a big Laurentia beach reunion going on in Heaven. Take care - Posted by: Lori Noble (friend) on: Jun 02, 2012
