GEORGE CLARK After an extremely courageous battle against cancer, it is with immense sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and friend, George Edward Clark on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the age of 68 years. George will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Lesley, son Jeffrey (Lynn), daughter Jody (Jon), and grandchildren Amelia, Mason, Mia, and Gisela. Also left to cherish his memory are his parents, Loreen and George Clark, brother Ed Clark (Barbara), sister-in-law Melanie Turner (Ed), nephews John and Dan, and nieces Wendy and Kristine. George was born on March 15, 1944, in Brandon, Manitoba. His passions in life revolved around his family, friends, work, and of course his horses. George loved the outdoors and when he was not camping, cross-country skiing, or riding his horse, he was playing with his grandchildren where laughter could be heard everywhere. There are simply not enough adjectives to describe the character of George. He was an honest, committed and loving person in every facet of his life. His characteristics never altered between family and work, and those of you who had the privilege of knowing George can attest to that. George began his business career with Pioneer Electric (Brandon) but enjoyed the majority of his work life with Monarch Industries. For 30 years, he was not only an employee of this company, but also one who created inspiration and provided fatherly advice to those he worked with. George touched the lives of so many and was one who people felt privileged to be able to call a colleague and friend. In turn, the amount of strong friendships George was able to be a part of in his life were something that meant the absolute world to him. Throughout his fierce battle with cancer, George remained positive, upbeat, and never lost his determination to continue on with life. His courage, strength and love will forever remain in our hearts. These attributes of George were certainly strengthened by our long time friends and for your love and support we want to say thank you. We invite friends and family to join us for a gathering in honour of George on Tuesday, June 5 at 6:00 p.m. at the Qualico Family Centre (by the duck pond) in Assiniboine Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to the Assiniboine Park Conservancy. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715

Mrs. Clark, Jeff, and Jody, I was completely shocked to hear about your husband/Dad. I was at the Lake this past weekend and spent Saturday night with friends, one of them being Kim McCallum. She told me the sad news which really threw me. I apologize for not even attending the service. I loved Mr. Clark. He was a fantastic coach and mentor. Jody, remember all those car trips we had to make to random rural locations to "get us ready" for upcoming ringette games. You, me and Cara Lavery subjecting your Dad to our ridiculous music for hours. What a champ. Years ago I was at a social, possibly for Kathy Matchett, and ran into Mr. and Mrs. Clark. I went up to George and let him know that I coached my novice ringette team girls the way he coached us and we ending up winning the city championship. I was very saddened to learn of Groege's passing. Way too early. Lesley - and family - my sincerest condolences. George and I were friends and classmates through Junior High at McLaren and High School at Harrison in Brandon. He was a standup guy - decent, fun, and gentle. He could laugh at himself - anyone who drove a jelly bean sized Austin with really strange signal lights had to. (He loved that little car.) My story is just one of multiple similar stories for people who knew George. One fellow employee though said it best. George was a coach. He continued to coach us, even as he faced the biggest challenge of his life. He taught us to do so with dignity and courage. I told him when he retired that I was forever grateful for all he did for me. Not just in my career, but my personal life. That was George. Thank you George, I miss you already. Lesley,Jeff,Jody and family Our deepest sympathy in your loss.I remember all the wonderful times at Sandy Lake especially around the fire pit enjoying Lesley's smores,family BBQ at their Brandon home,babysitting Jeff and Jody especially for a weekend so George could be with Leslie[a coach] for a basketball tournament out of town,and Christmas when we were much younger at Aunt Jean and Uncle Ed with all the many aunts,uncles and cousins.I was very fond of George-he was fun loving, who loved sports and the outdoors,and he will be remembered for the best laugh and smile. - Posted by: Deb and Don Stevens and family[nee Stothard] (2nd cousin) on: Jun 02, 2012
