LANA ROBERTA STEVENS (nee TANNER) It is with tremendous sorrow that we announce the passing of Lana Roberta Stevens, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Lana left us after a brief stay with the caring staff at Health Sciences Centre on Friday, June 1, 2012, surrounded by husband, sons, daughters-in-law, sisters and friends. Lana leaves behind husband Steve, sons Jarrod (Carole), Dustin, Tyler, and Stevie (Melissa), sisters Bonnie, Shirley, Terry (Bob), Tammy (Joe), Sheala, and Toby, brothers Larry, Randy (Barb) and Jesse, grandchildren Brandon, Shawn, Cameron, Mackenzie and Reine, great-grandchild Zachary, and her many beloved family and friends. Lana was predeceased by brother Aubrey Tanner, father Charles Tanner, mother Audrey Robinson, brother-in-law Don Smith, and her nephew Colin O'Brien. Lana's biggest joy, and sense of pride was her family, and she most enjoyed her many family getaways to favourite places like Grand Forks, Lake Bronson, and especially the Black Hills. Even taking frequent day trips to Portage la Prairie, Lockport, or just driving around Manitoba with her family gave her a sense of peace and joy. She always surrounded herself with animals; loving and caring for them as she did with all around her. She enjoyed "garage saleing", and finding special treasures for herself and her loved ones. Throughout her entire life, she was our family doctor, nurse, and confidant, tirelessly searching for a cure for every cold, ache, pain or flu her family had. Her selfless caring for those less fortunate never waned, endearing her to all she came to know. Lana was also an amazing cook, arranging and preparing fantastic holiday feasts for her family, with special traditions she carried on like her Christmas cake, which she made each and every year and shared with her brothers, sister and family. But mainly, she busied herself caring for her family, ensuring everyone was taken care of, and doing everything possible to ensure that their dreams and aspirations were realized. She believed and encouraged everyone to live for today and missed no opportunity to express her pride and happiness in her family. The family would like to thank Dr. Maksimiuk and the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, as well as Dr. Semus and the caring nursing staff at Health Sciences Centre for their tender, compassionate care. Funeral services and reception for Lana will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Augustine United Church, 444 River Avenue. Interment at Brookside Cemetery will follow for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Lana's honour to CancerCare Manitoba, 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. "All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother." NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE (204) 949-2200 www.nbardal.mb.ca

  • Oh Lana I miss you so much already, I miss all the phone calls every morning and during the day. Every time the phone rings your name is in my head and I know you are not calling me today, yet I know I will see you one day but for now my heart is aching so. I know you are with mom and dad and probably listening to dad's new tune on the fiddle, and you are happy now and you are watching over your family like an angel now. I will never forget you will always be in my heart and so many others..love always you gave so much to all your brothers and sisters as growing up with you. I always looked up to you as I was growing up and couldn't have had a better role model. Thank you for being you. - Posted by: Tammy Tanner Ambrenac (sister) on: Jun 05, 2012

  • To my beautiful sister-in-law, Lana, you were taken from us too soon. I will always remember your smile and your laugh and the way you made sure everyone had a coffee and something to eat when visiting. How much you loved your boys and Steve and all the grandkids. Taking trips to the states to shop or go camping and fishing. Baking and cooking for Christmas and Thanksgiving for the large family dinners. Having everyone there to make your day complete. We will always have you in our hearts and forever love you. God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be so He opened up His arms and said "Lana" come to Me. Love you always. - Posted by: Barb Tanner (sister-in-law) on: Jun 04, 2012
