ANN SZCZUR On Saturday, June 2, 2012, with family by her side, Ann Szczur passed away at the Holy Family Home at the age of 89 years. Ann was born September 21, 1922, in the village of Pischane Zolotonosha, Cherkasy, Ukraine. She was married to Steve Szczur for 42 years prior to his passing on September 13, 1988. Ann is survived by her sons, Jerry Szczur and his wife Wilfreda from Calgary, Bill Szczur and his wife Donna from Coquitlam, her two grandchildren Tanya Lauren Wilson from Vancouver, Angela Kristen Szczur from Coquitlam and her two nieces Olga and Natalka from Winnipeg. Ann lived a simple life, full of hard work and love for her family. She had a passion for gardening and would spend countless hours nurturing her plants. Her love, honesty and generosity are the qualities that make this world a better place. In her final years she was stricken with vascular dementia which slowly took her life. The loving care she received from all the staff of St. Francis Ward at Holy Family Home is greatly appreciated. May her memory remain forever in the hearts of her beloved family, dear friends and acquaintances, who in paying their respects, sent her on her last journey. Funeral Service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. on Wednesday, June 6 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT 586-8044

  • To Jerry and Billy, I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. Sorry but joyful at the same time as she will be together with all her old cronies. I can honestly say I loved your Mom She was one of the few bright lights in my youth. She loved to laugh, which she was quick to do. She loved life and it showed in those twinkling blue eyes and easy smile, she will always be in my heart. As expected as death is, it is always a shock when it arrives on your doorstep, my thoughts and best wishes to both of you and to your families.
