Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOY BURMASTER (nee LATTA) August 30, 1922 - June 4, 2012 Joy Burmaster (Latta) passed away on Monday, June 4, 2012 at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall, Manitoba. She is survived by her brother Don (Betty) Latta, stepson Keith (Judy) Burmaster, sister-in-law Mary Abrams, daughter-in-law Peggy Burmaster, sister-in-law Norma Gummo, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Roy, parents Lee and Dora Latta, daughters Rhona and Liz, stepson Larry, and brother Gene Latta. Joy was born in Brandon, Manitoba and grew up on a farm just outside of Balmoral, Manitoba. She graduated from Success Business College and worked as a Stenographer for North American Lumber in Winnipeg. She met Roy Burmaster and they were married in 1955, and resided in Dawson Creek, BC, then back to Winnipeg and finally out to Fort Langley, BC. She enjoyed needlework, which hangs in many of our homes, her grandchildren, traveling and her cats and dogs. She returned to Stonewall and spent her retirement years close to family. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall, Manitoba, with lunch to follow at the Stonewall Legion. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. Special thanks to the girls at Rosewood Lodge for their care and support of Joy for the last eight years.
