WALTER PRYSTAYKO 1921 - 2012 Walter peacefully passed away on June 4, 2012, at Concordia Place at the age of 90 years. Walter was predeceased by his wife Lenora in 2004, and was the last survivor of his immediate family, father Alexander, mother Teenie, brother Mike, sisters Stella Protskiw and Helen Skrypnyk. Walter is survived by his children, Greg (Judy) of Oakbank, Tessa of Langley, B.C. and beloved grandson Jonathan (Manon) of the NWT and many nieces and nephews. Walter was born on June 17, 1921, in Winnipeg. He served in the army in the Second World War, held many jobs, finally being employed by C.N.R. where he was employed as a trainman and conductor, retiring in 1982. Walter moved to Dugald in 1962, following his dream to have a hobby farm with horses and other animals. He was a member of the Frontier Wildlife Association and was an outdoorsman enjoying fishing and hunting. Following his stroke in 2006, he left the country life and took up residence at Concordia Village. Later, when more care was required he moved to Concordia Place where he entertained the residents with his harmonica playing. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Concordia Place, first and second floors, for their outstanding compassion and care during his stay. A celebration of Walter's life will be held on Monday, June 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Seasons Funeral Chapel, 576 Balsam Crescent in Oakbank.
