PAUL HUTZAL
Born: Sep 22, 1918
Date of Passing: Jun 07, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPAUL HUTZAL It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather at the Grace Hospital on Thursday, June 7, 2012, with family by his side. Dad will always be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his children Judy (Gary), Linda, Denise (Rick), grandchildren Matthew, Ashley, Brandon, great-grandchildren Cameron, Devin, and Cody, sister Helen, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Anne in 2001, sisters Agnes and Pauline, and his brother Bill. Dad was born in Ethelbert, Manitoba, on September 22, 1918. As a young man his life led him to Winnipeg where he met Anne, the love of his life. They married in 1949, and shortly thereafter started to raise their family together. Having grown up during the depression, he worked very hard to build a better life for his family. Dad joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America - Carpenters Local 343 in 1949, using his talents and abilities to become a journeyman carpenter. He was extremely proud to be considered a lifetime member of the union. Throughout his long career as a skilled craftsman, he worked on many projects within the city and surrounding area, specializing in finishing carpentry. He enjoyed sharing the details and stories about the many projects he helped complete. He was not afraid of hard physical work and often volunteered to assist others. His daughters were very fortunate to benefit from his skills, often assisting with various renovation projects in their homes. Dad's interests were many and varied. He loved cars and would spend hours tinkering on his vehicles in the garage. He was very proud of the intricate Blue Nose Schooner model that he built. As well as enjoying woodworking, bird carving, and playing the violin, he was also an avid baseball and hockey fan. When his favourite Montreal Canadiens were featured on Hockey Night in Canada, you would always know where to find him. He was a proud Hockey Grandpa who even at his advanced age, still came out to watch and support his grandson as he progressed through minor league hockey. A special thank you is extended to Michael Hart and the team at Sturgeon Creek Retirement Residence where Paul enjoyed living for the past four years. He was a very active resident participating in and taking pleasure from the many activities and outings organized by the staff. He leaves behind many valued good friends. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the many physicians, nurses and support staff on 3 North at the Grace Hospital, for the care and compassion given to Dad during his time there. Prayers will be held on Thursday, June 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the Assiniboia Christian Centre (Blessed John XXIII Parish) 3390 Portage Avenue with Msgr. Maurice Comeault presiding. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paul's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. Grandpa Paul there is way too much to say about him, I could write a book. I will never forget the last time I saw him, on my wedding day dancing the Ukrainian polka with me at 85 yrs old - what a amazing man. He had millions of talents and so much love to go around. My thoughts and prayers go out to my family through this hard time. Now he will rest in peace with my grandma and his beloved wife. We were saddened to hear of the death of Uncle Paul. We offer our deepest sympathy to his family. I can still recall the happy family times we shared on the farm during his visits. The house that he helped build 60 years ago for my late parents, Agnes and Robert Frank, in West St. Paul is still standing. He will always remain in our hearts and prayers and will be forever remembered. Doreen and Garth Skinner in Winnipeg, MB. - Posted by: Doreen Skinner (Niece ) on: Jun 11, 2012
