ROBERT FREDERICK HENRY HEINEMAN 1941 - 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert on June 7, 2012 surrounded by his family at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, at the age of 71. Robert will be missed by his wife Astrid, daughters LeRae (Scott) and Theo (Gord), grandson Bradley, brother Howard, sisters Eileen (Eric), Jean and Sharon (Don), as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Alvina (nee Roehle). Robert was born April 27, 1941 in Kipling, SK. He moved to Winnipeg when he was 17 where he met and married the love of his life. Robert and Astrid celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June 2011. Robert worked for MTS as an electrician until he moved his family to Brunkild in 1971 where he farmed as a pedigreed seed grower along with his custom seed cleaning business until his retirement in 2006. Robert was one of the seed growers selected by the Canadian Seed Growers Association to grow and multiply new crop varieties as they were developed and to protect the purity of these new varieties. We have many memories of the hours we spent hand roguing the weeds and off-types from these first crops. Farming was in his blood and he always looked for ways to be more efficient. As a result, Robert was instrumental in bringing one of the first air seeders to Manitoba. He also attached the harrows behind the air seeder. This enabled him to prepare the seed bed with just one pass. Robert's love of farming was surpassed only by his love for his family. Robert had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke even if it was at his own expense. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 12 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn at 4000 Portage Avenue. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Boniface Research Foundation. Condolences & Memories (21 entries)

  • poem for robert did you sense the time coming before you left this morning. did the nurses whisper to you "robert!" "rest now," we're here with you. did they make your passing easy, gentle hands to lift the burden of the final journey you were taking. ease the pain, do comfort care! when you flew across to heaven did the angels sing in sweet chorus? was the sky ablaze with colour? were you glad, and welcomed there! in my slumber, am i dreaming, you left three sisters grieving, your younger brother weeping. our memories of you, always keeping. sam. - Posted by: s.a.m () on: Aug 19, 2012

• Dear Astrid and all the family. Please accept our condolences in the loss of your loved one. We, especially Paul, have known Robert for almost 12 years now. We have spent many wonderful hours together, just visiting, and sharing stories and experiences that we have encountered. We have great memories of these times, and will remember him as such. Still...life goes on! With God as our good shepherd, what more do we want. .....Paul Clara Wollmann - Posted by: Paul & Clara Wollmann (Friend) on: Jun 21, 2012

  • It was a privilege to have known Robert, once he accepted you as his friend he was a friend for life, Robert was more than a friend he was like a brother to me and Suzanne, I will miss you big guy, miss the fact that the two of us could pride ourselves of not always being politically correct. But I guess the big farmer in the sky needed your expertise in farming so he said my son you're needed on my special farm in this beautiful place. Sorry Astrid, Leray and Theo I will not be present to see Robert on his direct first class flight to his new world for I have to attend to the funeral of my sister-in-law in Montreal, life is not ended for Robert but is transformed to a better world, I will be with you in my prayers and my thoughts. - Posted by: Fred & Suzanne Berard (Family friends) on: Jun 10, 2012

  • Fall of 86 I was hooked up with Robert through Farm Labor Pool. I remember standing on his yard with no one home. All of the sudden this little Ford Ranger came flying into the yard this fellow jumps out runs into the shed returning with something putting it in the back, looking at me he said "hi, I'm Robert you coming or what". Robert you will be sadly missed and I'm honoured to have known you! - Posted by: Darren and Joy Lorette (Friend) on: Jun 10, 2012
