It was with great sadness that I heard of my friend's passing. It will be a loss to us all - especially his new family. Brent - you were always someone I could come to "back in the day" my regret was we never kept closer contact as we grew older. You're a true Icelander, that I will never forget. God speed my friend. - Kris. - Posted by: Kris Arvidson (Friend) on: Jun 15, 2012

Oh Sigh, so many good memories my friend. We spent so many times at the beach chatting. The Icelandic Festival parade has had a great loss of one of it's finest Vikings. Your memory is captured in many pictures of you sharing it with our friends. Condolences to your family. - Posted by: Leanne Martin (Minarik) (friend) on: Jun 13, 2012

Brent was a good friend of my auntie Laurel's from her days living in Gimli. My sister and I always loved to have Brent around when we were kids. His laughter, humour, and kindness were something that we greatly admired. Sitting on the sidelines of the Icelandic Festival parade, waiting for "our friend Brent" (he was over ten years older than us) was one of my most cherished moments - seeing him coming by with the Viking ship, and spraying us with a Super Soaker water gun, laughing his head off. He was a great friend to all who knew him, and it is tragic that someone with such a kind heart will no longer be able to share it. I hope wherever you are Brent, that you are laughing and making others laugh. Rest in Peace. - Posted by: Lindsay van Leeuwen () on: Jun 13, 2012

Even though I only knew Brent for a short time, my life has been enriched for having known him. He could always make me laugh but in serious times, he was always a kind and listening ear. My heart goes out to his family and may God give them the strength to endure such a tremendous loss. "Rest Peacefully Buddy" - Posted by: Shelley Hooper (Friend and co-worker) on: Jun 13, 2012

Hearing of this loss this past Friday is a day I will remember forever. Brent was one of my best friends in grade 12 and for years thereafter. Although we may have drifted apart as people do after high school, whenever our paths crossed, it was as though we were back in grade 12 driving his old truck doing spinouts everywhere and anywhere. Brent was someone everyone liked for he had that "it" factor that attracted people to him. He was generous, thoughtful and always willing to lend a hand if need be. All that met and got to know him are probably better for it. He will be sorely missed and my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. Keep wielding your sword up in the clouds my friend. - Posted by: Eric (Friend) on: Jun 12, 2012

I am so glad that I had the privilege of knowing Brent in my life. I'll always remember our great talks, laughs and just good times that we spent when he was a part of our family at the RCMP. And I'll never again be at an Icelandic Parade without remembering that crazy Viking coming down the street. His life was far too short but he left us all with such wonderful memories. Rest In Peace my friend. - Posted by: Barb Holmstrom (friend) on: Jun 12, 2012

I first met Brent at Baldwinson's Handi Mart. It was his first job, and even though the job was working with him I got to know everyone in his family. We learned so much together, that was just one of many amazing things about Brent, he always hungered to learn. He was an extremely kind and loyal soul, honestly thinking of others before himself. How many times did we see him in the festival parade wearing a Viking costume with a big smile on his face and proud of his heritage? He did this for the kids and the visitors, and he loved it. We will miss you greatly Brent! You truly left before your time. - Posted by: Robert Munro (Friend) on: Jun 11, 2012

Brent made me laugh in class so much, sometimes he purposely used to make me laugh when I was feeling 'blah'. Some days he just felt like making me laugh so hard to get in trouble and sent into the hallways by certain teachers lol...when the industrial park rec centre was still open, a bunch of us would go there to hang out and chat, God obviously saw those good times and wanted in on the humorous chats one-on-one... Make them laugh Brent! Your smile is contagious. - Posted by: Kim Breneman (Salmon) (Graduated with Brent) on: Jun 11, 2012
