ISABELLE (BELLE) GRACE BOAL (MCLEOD/LAING) This very special lady passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012. She is the daughter of William and Mary Laing and was born at the family home in Clearsprings, Manitoba, on November 16, 1912. She is survived by brother Edward (Alice) Laing and sister Phyllis Ireland. She was predeceased by sisters Margaret Kreutzer and Jenny Sproule and husbands John McLeod and George Boal. She enjoyed two wonderful marriages, each in excess of 20 years. Belle is also survived by George's extended family in Edmonton and many nieces and nephews, and was particularly close to niece Louise (Ron) Fenwick. For 71 years Isabelle lived at and was extremely proud of her Larsen Avenue home. Her flower garden was beautiful and often included wonderful begonias. She was a special friend to all of the children in the neighborhood and was known as The Cookie Lady. She was an active member of Elmwood Ladies Curling Club from 1950 to 1997 and an Honorary member of the Past President's Club. She was a member of Immanuel United Church and particularly enjoyed the Golspie Seniors Carpet Bowling twice a month. In 2008, Belle moved to Concordia Village where she continued her passion for carpet bowling and cribbage games while enjoying the companionship of her many friends. Thank you to Belle's care providers at Concordia Hospital and the Tache Family Medical Centre, and to the wonderfully supportive community from Immanuel United Church and Concordia Village. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Immanuel United Church Memorial Fund or the Salvation Army. A celebration of Isabelle's life will take place Wednesday, June 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel United Church, 755 Golspie Street, Winnipeg, R2K 2V4. Interment will be in the Clearsprings Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

  • Mrs. Boal was an amazing lady. I got to know her at Meadowood Manor where she visited her mother so regularly. I was the director of nursing and she often came into my office to say hello. I can still see her with that special smile, always an encouragement. Cherish her memory. She was a special lady. Mary - Posted by: Mary Wiens () on: Jun 16, 2012
