LEONARD POIRIER It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father and grandfather, Leonard Poirier on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at the age of 82. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Lise (Brian), Ronald (Kim), and his grandchildren Michelle, Melissa, Ryan, Tyler and Megan. Also surviving to cherish his memory are his sisters Dorothée Sigurdsen, Irène Sparks (Don) and brother Omer, as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Leonard was predeceased by his wife Corinne (née Neveux), his parents Joseph and Clarinthe (née Carrière), brothers, Léo, Armand, René, Gaetan and sisters Therèse, Denise and Marie-Ange. Leonard was born and raised in Otterburne, the tenth of 11 children. He has always known the meaning of a hard days work and ca pick, ca pelle. From working the fields in Saskatchewan as a teenager, shoveling gravel for Gagné Gravel as a young man to caretaker of the St. Pierre arena, mechanic at St. Pierre Garage and Remple Tractor, he was never satisfied until the job was done right. He was an avid outdoorsman who could always be found tri-potting in his garage or in the yard. You've now attained your final garden dad, enjoy. Leonard enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren and sharing with them his many passions: hockey, camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and horses. Leonard could often be found at the arena watching his grandchildren play hockey. Thanks to the staff at Villa Youville for their care and patience while providing him comfort as a resident of the Villa. Also thanks to the many people within the medical and Community Homecare services who provided him with care. A celebration of Leonard's life will be held at the St. Pierre Roman Catholic Church, on June 25, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. Interment of the cremated remains will follow immediately after mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leonard's memory may be made to the Villa Youville, 15 Charrière Road, Ste. Anne, MB, R5H 1C9. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements.

Ron & Kim, sorry for your loss. I know that you and your Dad had a very special relationship. I remember going to your house and both your Mom and Dad had a great sense of humor but would try and not show it. You can tell that they loved you both. - Posted by: Ron & Lorie Carriere (Friend) on: Sep 04, 2012
