JEANINE ELAINE COURCHENE Red Star Woman June 9, 1952 - June 24, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Aunty, Sister-in-law, Cousin and faithful friend. She passed into the spirit world and into the arms of her deceased loved ones on June 24, 2012 at the Health Science Centre. Our mother Elaine passed after battling cancer she fought a good fight and inspired her children and grandchildren to face life with hope, love and drive. She experienced many heartaches and losses in her life that drove her to seek a solid refuge in her remaining family and friends. Their unending love and support showed she was valued and admired in the community of Sagkeeng. Our mother was a life skills facilitator and then became chief financial officer for the Sagkeeng Human Resource Centre. She was hard working, driven and committed to the betterment of the community through social programs and volunteering. Elaine loved socializing and could often be found on her favourite machine at the Sagkeeng VLT's. Its May 2013. I have often thought of my sister...there are still days when I think...I should phone her and tell her... and then I remember she is in the Spirit World. I loved talking about community, politics and finances with her...she was amazing I loved her smile. - Posted by: Jay-Lynne ( Jocie) (sister) on: May 28, 2013

I've known elaine for only a couple of short years but my heart breaks to hear of her passing. She was an amazing, inspiring woman who carried so much heaviness with a smile on her face. I am thankful to know she is at peace but so saddened to lose a friend. -Melissa - Posted by: Melissa Walls (Co-worker (University of Minnesota ) suicide prevention/wellness program) on: Jun 27, 2012
