HENRY (HANK) MYCAN November 12, 1914 - June 26, 2012 Our Dad had a great life! He was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the North End of the city, graduating from St. John's Tech. He then went on to serve in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. In 1949, he married our Mom Anne Dobchuk, and together they raised their three daughters on Kingston Row, a home he lived in until February of this year. Family was the most important thing to him and he loved each and every one of us unconditionally. He took great interest in all of our endeavors and accomplishments. Gigi made a lot of phone calls and was always one of the first to sing Happy Birthday to each of his children and grandchildren on their special day. Second only to his family was the love of his career. He was proud to be a Beer Salesman and General Sales manager. He began at Drewry's, then continued at Carling O'Keefe and retired from Molsons. Dad had a wealth of information about the beer and hotel industry in the Province of Manitoba and was always willing to share stories of many adventures travelling around the Province. Dad was a great role model to all of us as a charitable person, who volunteered and supported his community. He was a member of many service clubs in Winnipeg and proud to be a life time member of many. He was predeceased by his only sister Minnie and his beloved wife Anne in 1996. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his three daughters and their families, Gail and Craig Kushnier, Jeremy and Jenny-Lee, Bryce and Melody, Serge, and great-granddaughters Nora Bella and Penelope. Valerie and Kim McCartney, Megan and fiancé Jay and Morgan. Marcie Mycan and Anthony Lovett, Katie and Ricki. The family would like to thank the Janz Family who have been wonderful neighbours and our Dad's dearest friends, Don Brethauer, Cam Roy, Lenny Vince and the late Fred Binder, who have been an amazing support group for our Dad. He loved you guys! In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the Childrens's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, CE 501, 840 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1. Memorial Service to be held Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca

  • We were all saddened to learn of Henry's passing, and our deepest sympathy is extended to all members of his family. Henry and Ann welcomed us to the neighbourhood back in 1996, and though Ann passed away shortly after, we had the privilege of being neighbours with Henry for the next 16 years. Henry was Adrienne's very first visitor when we brought her home from the hospital, and in all the years since he never forgot a birthday (or any other holiday)! We will really miss Henry, but will always remember his friendly, caring and thoughtful manner. Sincerely, The Janz Family - Posted by: Andrea, Frank, Adrienne & Leah Janz (Neighbours) on: Jul 14, 2012

  • I remember Henry (and all the Mycans) as a child. Mycans were next door neighbours at our cottage in Ponema. There was always something going on. Most notable I recall after all the parents spent an afternoon enjoying Black Label Henry decided that the pony he had adopted for the summer for Gail, Valerie and Marcie should tour the cottage so up the front stairs she went and into the living room. Another adventure. While Henry may be gone the memories will last forever. - Posted by: Jake (jack) Davidson () on: Jul 08, 2012

  • Henry was a Life Member of CPAC, supporting sports for the youth of the north end for the past 58 years. We believe he was our oldest living member. Our sincere condolences to his family. - Posted by: Frank & Georgina Cielen (Canadian Polish Athletic Club Inc.) on: Jul 01, 2012
