DOROTHY ROBINSON Dorothy's family are saddened to announce her passing in Ashern, MB at the Lakeshore General Hospital on Monday, July 9, 2012 at the age of 89. Dorothy was born in Camper on March 29, 1923 and lived her whole life in the area with the exception of a few years in Winnipeg. She married Herbert Robinson on August 28, 1945. They lived in Spearhill a few years and spent time living in Steep Rock until the construction of the cement plant was complete at which time they moved back to Spearhill where Herb took up his old position. Spearhill was their home until 1965 when they moved to Moosehorn. After Herb passed away on February 24, 1988 Dorothy continued to live in their home until she moved into the Moosehorn Manor in September 2001. Two months later she was on the move again to Pioneer Manor in Ashern and later the Ashern Personal Care Home. In her younger years she played baseball and curled and was involved in both Spearhill and Moosehorn community affairs. She was well known for her talent at baking and decorating cakes and many of them were admired at weddings of family and friends. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In her years at the Pioneer Manor, she was a member of the Coffee Mugs and enjoyed her morning coffee among friends. Dorothy was a special person with a huge heart who made friends wherever she went. She will be remembered for her sense of humour, her teasing and her quick smile. Surviving Dorothy are her sisters-in-law Villa, Nellie and May Baker, Elsie Shiells and Marian Robinson as well as many, many nieces and nephews. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Herb; parents Karl and Marie; sisters Matilda, Olga, Ottilia and Elsie; brothers Rudolph, Albert, Roy, Adolph and Harry as well as three infant siblings. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service in her honour will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Ashern, MB with Pastor Erwin Tippel officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband Herb in the Spearhill Cemetery. Our family would like to thank all the staff at the Pioneer Manor, Lakeshore General Hospital and Ashern Personal Care Home for all the devotion and care you have given Aunty during her time with you. Please count yourself as one of Aunty's angels. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ashern Personal Care Home, c/o Margaret Gutknecht, P.O. Box 110, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Ken and I have a lot of great memories with Dorothy and with Herby. Halloween for years was always celebrated at their house. The kids went because they gave the BIG chocolate bars. And for the grownups it was a drink and a full course meal. Always with garlic sausage and cheese and homemade pickles. You will be missed that's for sure. Our condolences to all the family. God bless you all. - Posted by: Ken and Jane Price (Friend) on: Jul 11, 2012
