MORRIS PROKIPCHUK September 27, 1932 - July 16, 2012 It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father and grandfather at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Left to treasure his memory are sons Norman (Monica), Douglas (Rosemarie), and Raymond, and grandchildren Evan, Tim, Scott, Gina, and Christopher. He will also be sorely missed by his brother John, sisters-in-law Ethel Cyndroski, Myrtle (Leif) Gottfredsen, Sophie (Norm) Romas, nephews, nieces and extended family and friends. Morris was predeceased in 1997 by his beloved wife of 43 years, Elsie (nee Warywoda) and their son Patrick in 1976, as well as his parents, Michael and Mary Prokipchuk. Soft spoken and with a ready smile, good sense of humour, and playful nature, Morris was greatly respected by his colleagues for his common sense, patience, diligence and willingness to help others during his 37 year career with the City of Winnipeg, beginning in the original City Signals Department in 1951 - responsible for all 29 traffic control signals in Winnipeg at the time - and ending in the streets and Transportation Division of the still-new Unicity in 1988. Above all, Morris was a caring and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. There was nothing he wouldn't do for Elsie, the love of his life, and he unfailingly supported his sons and grandchildren in their various activities and interests. Morris will be remembered for his dedication to his family and for his conscientiousness both at home and at work. Funeral Service will be Friday, July 20, at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Morris' memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation. Vichnaya Pam'yat 586-8044

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Love You Always Grandpa. - Posted by: Gina (Grand Daughter) on: Apr 21, 2016

  • Morris was a client of ours since at least 1967. He was extremely kind & a true gentleman whenever we had a chance to talk. As Doug & I were in university together I made a point to ask how things were going with him. Each time Morris lit up with that special fatherly glow & gave an update. Special condolences to the entire family from all the folks here at King Insurance. - Posted by: Bruce King (Insurance Broker) on: Jul 19, 2012
