GORDON ARDIS COUTTS Gordon passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 with his wife Ruth at his side. Gordon was predeceased by his father Joseph, his mother Sarah, his brother George and his sister Vera. Gordon is survived by his nieces Gail and Lori, nephew Robert and their families. Gordon was born in Winnipeg and attended Glenlawn Collegiate. Every Thursday, except when he was curling, he would meet his former school mates for breakfast at Smitty's in St. Vital. Gordon curled at the St. Vital Curling Club for years and continued to curl in the senior league after returning to Winnipeg. Gordon has always worked in Industrial Sales Products, first founded Anchor Construction Industrial Sales Products with two partners. He sold his share in the business and went to Ontario, then Montreal and back to Ontario. He was a member of the Trafalgar Masonic Lodge #712 in Oakville, Ontario for many years. He joined Keystone Lodge when he returned to Winnipeg. He was also a member of The Khartum Shrine Ritualistic Unit. Gordon was a quiet man, a gentleman. His neighbours loved him and often asked for his advice and help which he gave freely. He was honest, sincere, trustworthy, a perfectionist and a procrastinator. He will be missed in our neighbourhood. My sincere thanks to John and Nancy Birt who were there for us from the start. Thanks also to Jack and Anne, Vic and Marybel, Joe and Sharon, Kala and Veena, Claudette and John. According to Gordon's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will take place at The Khartum Shrine Centre, 1155 Wilkes Avenue on Friday, August 17, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Ruth, we are sorry to hear of Gordon's passing. We did not know him well but at least we did have the pleasure of meeting him. - Posted by: Susan and Glen Mattice ( Dawn Turko's parents ) (friend) on: Aug 19, 2012

  • We always enjoyed Uncle Gordon's quiet humour. Many laughs were had when visiting in Toronto and Winnipeg. Card games after dinner, tea and sweets daily and a drink of Glenfittich now and then made for a pleasant visit at the Coutts home. A gentleman through and through, we will miss him dearly. - Posted by: Eric and Lorna Hillsden (Nephew & Niece -in - law) on: Jul 24, 2012
