ROBERT AUBREY RONDEAU With deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Rondeau after a hard, but short battle with cancer. He left us the evening of Friday, July 27, 2012, with his wife, Leone, by his side. Bob was loved by many people who will miss him terribly. He leaves with broken hearts, his wife of 26 years, Leone, and his pride and joy, his son, Kieran. Also left to mourn are his mother, Alma, his brother, Gerry (Cheryl), his sisters, Denise (Greg) Strecker and Monique (Jeff) Burden, his nephews, Craig Strecker (Christine and Gavin), Bryce Strecker (Erin and Jade) and Stephen Strecker, his mother and father-in-law, Gwen and Peter Lister, his sister-in-law, Linda Plexman (Carrie-Lynn, Whitney and Sophia-Lynn) and brother-in-law Jeff Lister (Glory, Janelle and Jonathon). Also feeling this loss are many dear friends, colleagues and extended family. Bob is reunited in heaven with his first son, Braden, his father, Richard and his nephew, Jamison Lister, as well as other relatives who've gone before. Bob was born on September 6, 1955, and spent most of his life in Beausejour. His early years were filled with fun times with friends and family. During this time, Bob became involved with curling which became a lifelong passion. After high school, Bob attended the University of Manitoba where he received his Bachelor of Education degree in 1977. He began his teaching career at Whitemouth School. After two years, he transferred to Beausejour Elementary School where he taught and became assistant principal. Bob was proud to be a part of the opening of the new Beausejour Early Years School. In 2004, Bob became the assistant principal of Anola School. The following year, Bob became the principal; a position he held for the next seven years. Bob was a much-loved teacher and administrator during his 35-year career with Agassiz/Sunrise School Division. He will be remembered for his kind, caring and calm manner. He was always willing to listen to and support students and colleagues. Bob was a lifelong learner, always reading the latest research and keeping up with current best practice in education. He willingly shared this information with colleagues throughout the school division, especially in the area of Math, which was of particular importance to him. Bob's giving spirit led him to become involved in many community and professional organizations and events. He loved the sport of curling and besides playing the game he shared his enthusiasm by coaching young curlers and instructing both beginners and other instructors. Two highlights of his curling career were playing in the Manitoba Tankard and coaching the Manitoba girls' team at the 1995 Canada Games. Bob served on many volunteer boards and supported amateur sport in numerous ways. He was very proud to be co-chair of the successful 2006 Manitoba Winter Games that were held in Beausejour. Above all, Bob was a family man. His wife and son were everything to him. He would do anything for them and supported and trusted them in whatever they chose to do. He was a good man whose memory will be cherished forever. Our deepest thanks go out to our family and friends for their kindness over the last weeks. Your visits to Bob and your care for us move us beyond words. Our thanks to Dr. Askarifar, Dr. Lipschitz, Dr. Schmidt, Dr. Gordon and the amazing teams at Health Sciences Centre (H3 and A3 Step Down) and Beausejour Hospital for their care and compassion. A service of remember and honour Bob will be held on Thursday, August 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Brokenhead River Community Foundation, Box 2225, Beausejour, MB, R0E 0C0, for the establishment of the Bob Rondeau Curling Scholarship (please include in memo line) or the Canadian Cancer Society. Thinking of you and sending prayers Leone and Keiran... I am sorry I was out of town and not there to pay my respects. I have fond memories of Mr. Rondeau as a former student-he is exactly as described-kind, caring and a dedicated educator. As a colleague his dedication to his profession was evident in so many ways. It was also quite obvious that these same qualities of dedication and devotion were for his family, and their love for him evident as well. Thinking of you guys!. - Posted by: Ashley Marcinkow (Colleague and former student) on: Aug 20, 2012

Our prayers to Leone and Kieran. We got to know Bob (and family) through St. Paul's United Church in Beausejour. We are very saddened to hear of his passing. It was great that he was able to see Kieran graduate grade 12 from ESS in June. - Posted by: Harris Family (Beausejour) (Friends) on: Aug 08, 2012

On behalf of the staff and volunteers at Sport Manitoba, I wish to acknowledge the tremendous contributions that Bob made, as a coach and volunteer leader, to the growth and development of children and youth in Beusejour and the Eastman Region, as well as within the province as a whole. Bob's steadfast dedication and ongoing support will be greatly missed...as will he. Rick Lambert, Director of Community Development. - Posted by: Rick Lambert (colleague in sport) on: Aug 04, 2012

Ramona Lacasse says: I’m truly saddened to hear of Bob Rondeau’s passing. My deepest condolences go out to his lovely wife Leone, his son, Kieran, family, friends and coworkers. I’ve known Bob for about 4 years. He was among the best principal and Educator there was. In my time spent with Bob I learnt how to listen to students. Bob had this kind manner about him that you couldn’t help but love and imitate, he always took the time to listen to his staff. He was passionate about the use of technology in the classroom and taught me to feel the same. For me, Bob will be remembered as a kind and loving principal and friend. He has helped shaped me as a teacher. Ramona Lacasse - Posted by: Ramona Lacasse (Colleague) on: Aug 02, 2012

Thanks Bob for all your professional guidance throughout the years. You will be missed dearly but not forgotten. Your math guidance throughout all the math in-services that you led were powerful, making us love the subject almost as much as you did. Your leadership guidance will also never be forgotten, after your presentations, encouragement and inspiration you made us all stand straight and tall. Thanks for your service Bob, your dedication will be alive in us as long as we live. My condolence goes out to the family. Bob, a gentleman, that you must all be so proud of. - Posted by: Jason Hofer (Friend) on: Aug 02, 2012

I know for certain that we never lose the people that we love. They remain with us because love itself lives on. Cherished memories never fade because their love leaves an imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared that love and so long as there is memory they will live on in our hearts forever. Leone and Kieran our hearts and prayers go out to you. We will always cherish the moments we shared with Bob and feel blessed for having been able to share our lives with him. Leone, Kieran and family, Although time and distance have separated us, we have very fond memories of Bob. I recall meeting Bob for the first time when I moved to Beausejour in Grade 12 and how he was so friendly to the "new" guy. This open friendliness towards others was a trait that was evident throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this sorrowful time. What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you passed away, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. Leone and Kieran we are sending all our love to you both at this time. Bob will forever remain in our hearts. I will always remember Bob's math puns and jokes; his quiet smirk and generous smile. I will cherish the memories I have of working closely with Bob planning divisional math inservices. I always admired him for his thirst for knowledge and the commitment he had to transfer this knowledge to the students. I will miss him. - Posted by: Micheline Lafreniere (Colleague) on: Jul 30, 2012
