THOMAS EDWARD ELLIOTT November 7, 1938 July 29, 2012 My father, known as Ed to friends and as Pappy to me, peacefully left this world Sunday afternoon to be with his wife Doreen. Ed was predeceased by his parents Lilly and Raymond Elliott, aunt Hazel Elliott and his love, Doreen Parenteau. Left here to cherish memories of him are his daughter Lori (Pete), stepsons Harold, Calvin, cousin Dale Crewson, and extended family and friends. Ed was born and grew up in Treherne, MB. He later moved to Winnipeg with his parents finally settling in Transcona. In earlier years he always kept busy, either hunting, fishing or racing his pigeons. At the age of 17 he got a job at C.N. where he later retired after 39 years. Later Ed met Doreen, who he loved dearly, and they had one daughter. Ed did everything he could do to help better his family. He was very generous and caring. Ed enjoyed the outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting with his good friends Harry, Jack and Barry. He loved going up to Jack's cabin in Bissett, fishing at Cariboo Lake and hunting up in northern MB. My dad loved to travel and spend quality time with my mom, myself and other family showing us different parts of the U.S.A. He spoiled us with trips to Florida and had one on one trips with Doreen to Las Vegas. The last trip was to Florida in 2007 which was a highlight for both my dad and myself. After all the years of us watching NASCAR every Sunday, he finally got to see the Daytona speedway in person. My father was a solid man with the loudest voice, but the biggest heart. He could go from hunting to watching Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show. After a long struggle with his tired heart, it came time to say good-bye But the love his heart held, will stay with me forever. A gentle soul, and loving man. You are dearly and deeply missed!! Give mom a kiss for us, I LOVE YOU PAPPY!!! Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2012 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment for Ed and Doreen will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. • Your "Pappy" sounds like he was a wonderful man. I am sorry for your loss. I was actually looking for my friend's mom's obituary and read your tribute to your dad. You were very lucky to have someone like him in your life. I am sure he would be proud of you and your words of love to him. Take care. - Posted by: Alix McLachlan () on: Aug 03, 2012
