MARGARET MACDONALD 1913 - 2012 Margaret MacDonald passed away at the Beausejour Hospital on Wednesday, August 1, 2012. She was born in the log cabin on the Turner family homestead three miles west of Beausejour in the Sebright area. She died just three days short of her 99th birthday. Margaret lived a full life. She travelled, she loved sports, she enjoyed hunting and fishing, blueberry picking and camping. Golf was a favourite pastime in the summer and curling and skating in the winter. At 27, she married David MacDonald, a school teacher and thus, moved all around Manitoba. He passed away in 1957 and then, the independent woman that she was, she set off to Vancouver to get her Practical Nursing License. She was a caring and compassionate woman. Nursing took her first back to Beausejour and then on to Sioux Lookout. During this time she signed on with the medical ship CD Howe which took her way up north to nurse the Eskimo and Inuit people. Even though she had no children of her own, her many nieces and nephews were her kids . Just this spring, Auntie Margaret was seen at the Beausejour Arena cheering on a great-great-great-nephew. Margaret was a sincere Christian and prayer warrior. Her bible study group was very important to her. In her life time, Margaret was very generous to those in need. Many people were the recipients of her boundless energy and her kind heart. Everywhere she went and everything she did centered around friends and family. Margaret's adventures and misadventures were well known by all her friends, far and wide. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, her parents, brothers and sisters. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue, Beausejour, MB with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Beausejour Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favourite charity. • We remember many times visiting with Margaret's brother Tom, who was married to Jim's mother Muriel. Many times Margaret was there as well. What a strong, courageous lady she was. And just 3 days short of her 99th birthday. Sorry for your loss. We lost our grandson last December, and feel for the family. Our condolences to your family. She lived a great, long life. - Posted by: Jim and Linda Bukoski and family (family of Muriel Turner, sister-in-law to Margaret ) on: Aug 07, 2012

  • I remember Auntie Margaret bombing around the country in her 'keep on truckin' van. There was never any stopping her, and she always had time and a beautiful smile for everyone. I know she will be welcomed with open arms by her whole family in Heaven. - Posted by: Al Turner (nephew) on: Aug 07, 2012

  • I had the privilege of spending time with aunt Margaret in late May this year. We drove to Seven Sister Falls, a place she spent a lot of time at, fishing with her father. She insisted on walking down a steep hill covered in grass to sit by the river. I have a beautiful picture of her lost in thought. On the way down the hill I told that if she couldn't get back up the hill I would tow her up with a rope and my car. It made her laugh. When we were leaving she said "have you got that rope ready "and we both laughed God bless you auntie Margaret and give my love to all the family as they welcome you home. Lots of love Jane - Posted by: Jane Jantunen (Niece) on: Aug 05, 2012
