ARTHUR DONALD SHURA 1931 - 2012 Arthur passed away on July 30, 2012 in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 81. He is survived by his daughter Tanis Shura (Rob Wagner), daughter Melanie Shura (Paul Hannaford), son Rob Shura (Darlene) and sister Liz Armstrong (Ken). He is also survived by his grandchildren Spencer, Griffin, Miranda and Sophie. Arthur was predeceased by his beloved wife Doreen Shura, father John Shura, mother Sally Shura (nee Millan), brother Walter Shura, and sister Marge Walker (Keith). Art was born May 19, 1931 and raised in the McCreary area to a farming family where he grew up with his three siblings Walter, Liz and Marge. Art's lifelong career in the mechanical field began by working in the family run farm implement business. He developed into a highly skilled mechanic working with aircraft, automotive, marine and heavy equipment. Upon his retirement after 30 years as a Diesel Instructor at Red River Community College, Art joined his son Rob at Meridian Sales and Service in Grosse Isle until it was sold in 1996. An extremely diverse individual, Art had many interests from reading and collecting coins to hunting and fishing. Art spent many summer days in a boat with family members searching for the elusive Big One . He also had a love for travelling and took many extended trips with his wife Doreen or the family exploring Canada and the US. He loved to work on the acreage near Grosse Isle where the family settled in 1969 until he moved into Winnipeg 30 years later. He never left his agricultural roots, and even in later years could be found restoring antique tractors and other equipment to pristine condition. His final years were spent at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home. Memorial Service will be held at the MacKenzie Funeral Home in Stonewall, MB at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. Donations can be made to the Lung Association of Manitoba if desired. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and management of the St. Norbert Personal Care Home and the staff at emergency services at the Victoria General Hospital, especially Dr. Roger Suss.
