ESTRELLA VALLADARES JUNIO November 17, 1922 - August 3, 2012 It is with great sadness that we must accept the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend Estrella Junio. Estrella suffered a massive heart attack, and after a long battle with diabetes and arthritis, Estring, to those who knew her, surrounded by her family went home to be with her Saviour on Friday morning August 3, 2012 at 7:10 a.m. at Seven Oaks General Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children, Trinidad (Jun) Aragon, Boy (Julie) Junio, Ramona Junio, Nenita Junio, Terrie (Stan) Woodward, Yvonne Junio, Marilou Junio, Robert (Josephine) Junio, Agustin Junio; grandchildren, Marie-Sheena Junio, Joseph and Jennifer Aragon, Cheryl Woodward, Marjorie (Blair) Reid, Gerry and Gil Junio, Samantha, Sydnie, Sheridan and Szabelle Junio, Alex and Jay Junio, her sisters Presentacion Antiquiera from the Philippines and Salvacion Faldas from California, as well as many relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Felicidad and Pedro Valladares, her husband of 57 years, Isabelo Junio and her four brothers Manuel, Salvador, Ricaredo and Fulgencio Valladares. Mom was a very firm and proper person and a strict disciplinarian, but somehow had a lot of patience with her grandchildren. She adored each and every one of them and was very proud of their achievements, big and small. Every award and accomplishment was rewarded and celebrated. Somehow they are perfect little angels in Grandma's eyes, much to our chagrin as parents. Grandma's living room walls are covered with pictures of her family - more so of her grandchildren. As a mother of nine, she was always strict but fair. She had always instilled in us to tell the truth despite the consequences. She always said that if you did something wrong, better tell the truth and receive mild punishment than lie and receive a severe consequence later. She also said it takes twice the time to correct a mistake than to do the work correctly the first time, if you can even fix it, so make sure you get it right (maybe that's the reason why we grew up to be perfectionists in whatever we do). Thanks, Mom, for your advice and lifelong lessons. We will always treasure them. The family would like to thank the staff of U7 at Seven Oaks General Hospital for the excellent care they have extended to Mom during her last days. We also wish to thank Dr. Rodolfo Padua, who patiently answered Mom's questions and frustrations about her debilitating disease. Also, a big thank you to all the home care workers who did excellent work in taking care of Mom these past few years for their patience and understanding when she was in pain. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom's name can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation. Lamay will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Prayers will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Church, 748 Keewatin Street. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca
