Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILLIAN MAUDE PETERS (nee NOWE) June 8, 1928-August 5, 2012 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lillian Maude Peters on August 5, 2012 at the Victoria General Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents Ada Maude and Guy Gladstone Nowe, her brother Calvin Nowe, her beloved husband Edward William Peters and infant daughter Susan Lynn. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Dianne (Louis) and Barbara (Marvin) and her grandchildren Jason (Rachel), Andrew (Brianna), her sister Vi Newan and her sister-in-law Pat Nowe, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Lillian was born in Everett, Massachusetts, on June 8, 1928. She grew up in Cherry Hill, Nova Scotia, but spent many summers in Boston, Massachusetts with her aunts and uncles. Her father was a fisherman in Nova Scotia and was lost at sea, in the Atlantic Ocean, on February 9, 1940. During the war she met Edward who served in the navy and after the war moved to Winnipeg where they were married on March 15, 1946. They were married over 60 years and not a day went by that she didn't miss Ed. Lillian went to work at Zeller's in Westwood in 1968 and worked until 1988 when she decided to retire so she could spend more time with her grandsons. They meant everything to her. Family was very important to her. She loved to bake, according to her grandsons no one could make anything better than her. Her secret ingredient was love. She also loved to knit and sew. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she was a Past Matron. She belonged to the church choir at St Chads Anglican Church and loved to sing, but once Ed became ill she left the choir to look after him. She spent many summers out at the cottage on Jessica Lake with her grandchildren until our father's passing. We would like to thank all the doctors and nurses on 5 North at the Victoria General Hospital for the care, kindness and compassion they gave during her stay. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 9, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Chad's Anglican Church (Assiniboine Christian Centre) 3390 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE (204) 949-2200 www.nbardal.mb.ca
