OLGA (OLLIE) GLORIA MUZIK (nee NEDOSZYTKO) June 16, 1931 - August 6, 2012 Our mother passed away peacefully at the Seven Oaks Hospital on Monday, August 6, 2012 at the age of 81. Ollie is survived by her three sons Glenn, Ken (Barb) and Elliott as well as grandchildren Jamie, Jennifer, Katie (Jon), Marcie, Joshua and Hailey. Also left to mourn her passing is Bruce Barclay her companion of over 30 years as well as her sister Niynie. Ollie was predeceased by her parents Sam and Nellie Nedoszytko as well as her two sisters Bernice and Marlene. She grew up in the North End of Winnipeg where she attended school and later met her husband Mike who also predeceased Ollie in 2010. Ollie and Mike moved to Transcona in the late 1950s where they raised their family and were very active in the community. Ollie was President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Oxford Heights Community Club when her sons were participating in sports there. Ollie worked at the Oxford Grill in Transcona as well as at the Bay downtown. Ollie was an avid sports fan who loved football and hockey in particular. She could always be found with a carload of kids driving them all over the city to arenas and stadiums to watch her boys play sports. Ollie thought nothing of driving to Saskatchewan or to the US to watch her sons play hockey or football. Ollie spent her final days in the Seven Oaks Hospital watching the Olympics. Ollie loved to spend summers at the family cottage at Hillside Beach where she ran the restaurant at the Hillside Beach store and served countless numbers of her famous Zik Burgers. When she wasn't working in the restaurant she was working in the numerous vegetable or flower gardens that adorned the cottage. Ollie especially enjoyed going to Bomber games and Moose games and most recently Jets games as her and Bruce were season ticket holders for many years. Our mother was one of the most kind hearted and fun loving people that anyone could ever hope to meet. She brought joy and happiness into the lives of everyone who met her and touched us all in a way that few people are able to. You will be sorely missed Mom. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Fred Douglas Lodge on Burrows as well as the staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital Emergency and 5th Floor Unit 2. A service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel (1442 Main St.) on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. 204-586-8044

  • To Dad and all of Ollie's Family, I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love. Leo Buscaglia We are very grateful to have known and shared loving memories with Ollie. This quote seems to fit how we all feel about her.
