HUGH MACCOY On Saturday, August 11, 2012, Hugh Francis Jerome MacCoy (Tim to his friends) passed away at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 83 years. Tim was born in Prince Albert, SK and grew up in Winnipeg. He worked for a time as cook for Salisbury House in Winnipeg but for most of his life he worked at the Canadian National Railway (CNR), rising to the position of Yardmaster. The Symington crews of the day will remember Tim's cooking that was an extra' that came while he was working the yard. He retired in 1988 after 36 years of service. Tim was well known in the Windsor Park area and in the local hockey community for his leather work. Many a set of hockey gloves and goalie pads were given a second life thanks to Tim's rebuilding and repairing that made old leather, new again. Tim enjoyed going to the States. Camping trips to Lake Bronson with the family or just going to Grand Forks for a weekend of shopping. In retirement Tim continued to enjoy travelling and he and Fran were fortunate to go on a number of cruises and holidays to warm weather locations with Hawaii being his favorite. Tim also loved being a snow bird and spent many winters with Fran on South Padre Island, Texas. His Honda Accord was always up for the road trip. Tim also loved photography and recorded many of their trips with photographs taken with his Canon 35mm camera. Tim is survived by his loving wife Frances, daughters Corrine (Alan) and Colleen (Pat), grandchildren Melissa, Jeff and his honey bear Kaitlyn. He is also survived by three siblings; Raymond (Elaine), Valerie, and Carol (Ray) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a stillborn son and a son, James. He was also predeceased by his parents and six siblings; Pauline, Kathleen, Carla, Elaine, Stanley and Kenneth. A memorial service will be held for Tim on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Parish, 255 Stafford Street, Winnipeg. Inurnment will take place at a later time. Special thanks to the Victoria Hospital Emergency Staff for their kindness and compassion. Donations may be made in Tim's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg.
