SHEILA STURLEY 1930 - 2012 On August 12, 2012 at the age of 82, Sheila died of melanoma. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Jack Sturley, her brother Bill, her beloved aunt and uncle Eileen and Claude Currie, and by her very close cousins John, Robin and Maureen Currie, her brother-in-law Merv Andrews and by her nephews Paul and Bruce Langer. She is survived by her sisters Esmé (John) Peterkin and Kathie Andrews, sisters-in-law Chieko Sturley and Irene Currie, by her dear cousins Charlene and Raymond Currie, many nieces and nephews, and by her former student and great friend Jane Steele. Sheila was born in Brandon, Manitoba and was educated in Flin Flon and at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Winnipeg. In 1959, she entered the Religious Society of the Sacred Heart and served in that Society for 25 years. Sheila expressed here deep faith in God by spending her life in the service of others, always generous to everyone but herself. She served the parish of St. Ignatius in many capacities and volunteered at Riverview and at Misericordia Hospital. She was a wonderful big sister and cousin. She was both a lady and a good woman. We are grateful to God for her life. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Ignatius R. C. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • So very saddened to hear of another childhood friend passing on. We were children together in Flin Flon some 70 - 75 years ago and, after a perion of some 50 years, reestablished contact in Nova Scotia where she came to visit another relative. We have stayed in touch and she has visited us several times since when we got to know her all over again and so enjoyed the experience. We will miss her. We hope Esme and Kathy will stay in touch. • Sheila was a friend I met at the 7.15 a.m. mass at St. Ignatius 15 years ago. She selected me to become a eucharistic minister and a sacarestin at the morning mass. I also got to drive her to mass on some Monday mornings, the last being July 23 2012. I will miss her, she was a very helpful person and a good friend. - Posted by: brian buchan (a friend) on: Aug 16, 2012
