MARIAN EUGENIA GELINAS (nee PALAMARCHUK) It is with deep sadness and love, that we announce the passing of Marian with her daughter at her side, on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Arborg Hospital. Marian will be deeply missed by husband Garry and beloved daughter Cheryl of Arborg. She will be lovely remembered by sister Ollie (Ed) Pomaranski of Gimli, and sister Vicki Huewan of Stonewall, and brother-in-law Frank Shynkarchuk of Gimli and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Marian was predeceased by her mother Bernice (1961) and father Michael (1985). Also by sister Ann Synkarchuk (1990) of Gimli, brother Paul (1998) of Thunder Bay and many other uncles, aunties, cousins on her side and also on the Gelinas side. Marian was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on April 14, 1940. She was raised in Silver, Manitoba on the family farm. After school, she remained at home, helping on the farm. For a short period of time she worked in Winnipeg; She also devoted time working at the St. Benedict Manor in Arborg, She also worked in Gimli in various jobs, and devoted many hours helping Cheryl with 4H and Avon endeavors. She also spent countless hours working for the Church and community. Many hours were also spent at home cooking, canning, baking and gardening. She enjoyed babysitting children in the neighbourhood. Marian was a devoted church goer who never missed a Sunday service where ever it was held. She was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage. She also sang in the Ukrainian Church Choir, She was a kind hearted person who generally cared about others and will be greatly missed by all. Prayers will take place at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Arborg on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will take place at the Silver Ukrainian Catholic Church on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Father Harry Chuckry officiating. The pallbearers will be Jarvis Swereda, Don Miskiewicz, Miles Pomaranski, Perry Shynkarchuk, Ben Graboweski and Zigmunt Smolinski. Honorary pallbearers will be the Gelinas family from Quebec. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Silver Church and Cemetery, c/o Cheryl Gelinas. Many thanks go to Droctors Gerges and Siddiqui, and all he kind nurses and health care aids.
