BONNIE MARIE HALLDORSON (nee OLENDER) January 31, 1947 - August 22, 2012 With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Bonnie Marie Halldorson, August 22, 2012, aged 65, at Saint Boniface Hospital with her children by her side. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband Kristjon (Cardy) Halldorson of 29 years; children Joanne Riedle, Rae-Ann Bennett (Cory Moreau), Cory Bennett (Catherine), Ricki-Dawn Bennett (Keith Matear); step-children Curt Halldorson (Lois), Robin Halldorson (Darren), Kris Halldorson (Krystal); grandchildren Jacey Riedle (Tessa), Diedre Lafreniere (Roch), Brendan Bennett-Chevarie; Erik Bennett; stepgrandchildren Lauren, Aaron, Hilary, Emma, Loa Halldorson; great-grand-children Maybel Murray and Josh Lafreniere. Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, Johanna Fjola (nee Solmundson) and Michael Olender, and son Michael Bennett. Anyone who had the gift of knowing mom knew her wonderful spirit, strength beyond imagine and sheer joy for living. She was born in Gimli, spent many years raising her family in Winnipeg and Edmonton, returning to spend her happiest years in Gimli. Mom's immediate and extended family meant everything to her. She was a social butterfly who genuinely cared about everyone and their story. She absolutely thrived and loved working at the Solmundson Greenhouse with Darlene (sister by choice) and cousin Ben Solmundson. Being an only child, mom loved and adored her Solmundson cousins, Olender cousins and dearest friends. Family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to all involved in her care on the 7th and 8th floors of St. Boniface Hospital in supporting mom and family as well. A service honoring mom will be held at Gimli Lutheran Church on August 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • My condolences to the family on their loss. I last saw Bonnie when she popped in to see mom on Dowling Street. I have many fond memories of babysitting for her when she was working at Dal's. She made great hamburger goulash :), and was kind and upbeat and a friend to mom. We'll all meet again one day. - Posted by: Tina Fotheringham (nee Daly) (babysitter for the family) on: Oct 25, 2012

  • Bonnie was a wonderful person. Her gentle and giving nature, sense of humor and genuine caring of others are just some of the characteristics of the exceptional person Bonnie was. Bonnie overcame adversity with determination and strength. She was a wonderful friend to me and we shared many memorable times together. I loved her and will truly miss Bonnie. Cardy and family, please find strength in knowing that Bonnie was a special person and loved by those who were privileged to have known her. - Posted by: Deborah Churchill (Friend) on: Aug 28, 2012

  • I lost touch with Bonnie several years ago and was saddened to hear of her passing. We grew up together in Gypsumville, Manitoba and I have happy memories of the years we spent together. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family. - Posted by: Valerie (Schnurer) McGarrett (School chum / Friend) on: Aug 26, 2012

  • How sad to hear of Bonnie's passing. She was the sweetest, caring person and devoted wife to Cardy. She would do everything possible to make you feel welcomed and comfortable in their home. Though we didn't see them often enough, they were often in our thoughts. - Posted by: Connie, Lyle & Gregory Kennedy (Cousin Connie) on: Aug 26, 2012

  • Your Wife / Mother's gentle nature of showing love and compassion to others reminds me of a beautiful butterfly as it visits the many flowers in a garden. Her beauty shone from within, making her truly a "Beautiful Person". Bonnie had a gift for making a person feel better no matter what kind of a day they were experiencing. It didn't matter whether the visit lasted a minute or an hour, the day was that much better after a visit with Bonnie. I feel blessed to have had Bonnie in my life. She will be forever fondly remembered. Till we meet again, God speed Bonnie. - Posted by: Janice Tokle (Friend / Cousin) on: Aug 26, 2012

  • In our hearts and memories you will remain forever. - Posted by: Mic Schnell and Cliff Savage (Close Friends) on: Aug 25, 2012
