JULIETTE BONHAM (nee BERARD) With deep sadness we announce the passing of Julie Bonham on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Steinbach Bethesda Hospital. Supported by her family and with her husband, Don, at her side, she died peacefully. She courageously and determinedly battled ovarian cancer for the past four years. Born in St. Joseph, MB on February 10, 1943, Julie was the daughter of Germaine Baril and Philippe Berard. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Alice (Bert) Paulhus. Julie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Don and her son, Gord and daughters Cheryl (Craig) Borkowski and Elizabeth (Dan) Benoit and grandchildren Arielle, Jordon, Fred and Katie. Her surviving siblings are Albert (Marie-anna) Berard, Florence (Bob) Remillard, Raymond (Audrey) Berard, Guy (Chris) Berard, Florent (Rachel) Berard, Richard (Gisele) Berard and Gisele (Ron) Eldridge. Brother-in-laws Ron (Kitty) Bonham, Gerry (Carol) Bonham, Barry Bonham and sister-in-law Audrey Bonham as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Julie was raised on a small family farm outside of St. Joseph, MB and spent her school years in St. Jean Baptiste. She moved to Winnipeg when she was 17 and at the age of 18 married Don on December 30, 1961. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past December. Julie first became a mother at the age of 20 and spent the next 20 plus years lovingly raising her three children. She worked at the Winnipeg Free Press for 17 years retiring in 1995. That same year, she and Don moved to their present home in Ste. Anne (Paradise Village). She was a tireless worker who took great pride in having a clean home and especially cooking and baking for family meals and special occasions. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing bingo and darts but her greatest passion was spending time with her family and friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Ste. Anne des Chenes Catholic Church in Ste. Anne (162 Central Avenue), on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall (also on Central Ave). The family would like to extend much thanks to the staff at Ste. Anne's Hospital, Dr. Fredette, Dr. Frechette and Dr. Toews. Special thanks and appreciation is extended to Ernesto, Josie and Sharon for the special care and attention they provided.
