Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKRISTRUN STEPHANIA BOLTON (HANNESSON) (nee ARASON) June 3, 1913 - August 23, 2012 Peacefully, on August 23, 2012, Mom passed away at the age of 99 years with her family by her side. Kristrun was predeceased by her first husband Kristin Marino Hannesson (January 14, 1969) and her second husband Wesley Bolton (July 25, 1977), her children Lillian Ferguson (September 19, 2004), Lloyd Hannesson (Diane) (November 30, 2011) and Gaylord Hannesson (December 21, 2001) and her six sisters and one brother. Kristrun will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sharon Cuthbert (Gordon) her very special granddaughter Kristine Allard, and her nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Arnes MB on June 3, 1913, to Jona and Johann Arason. She was the eldest of eight children. Mom was raised in Gimli MB and married Kristin Hannesson on June 11, 1932. Lillian, Lloyd and Gaylord were born and raised in Gimli where they resided until 1948 when they moved to Lac du Bonnet and then to Winnipeg in 1950 where Sharon was born. Mom was a very strong and resilient woman. She never let age hold her back, becoming a hairdresser at 48 and getting her driver's license at 65. She loved playing bingo, a good game of cards and a good joke. Mom was a wonderful cook and baker. It was nothing for her to bake 12 Vinetarta at Christmas for all the family and close friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge and the 2nd floor nurses and staff, at the Grace General Hospital, for their kindness and compassionate care. A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery) at 7:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be at a later date in the Gimli Cemetery, Gimli, MB. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice. I well remember your kindness to me when we were young neighbours in apartment block. Tweety bird, and going to a dance with you at the local community club a few years later.
