JOHN EDWARD ZINNICK April 20, 1920 - August 25, 2012 Unexpectedly on Saturday, August 25, 2012, John Zinnick of Melrose, Manitoba, passed away at the age of 92. John will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Frances, of over 65 years; children: Adeline (Jim) Kosheluk, Garry (Sherry) Zinnick, Linda (Brent) Semenchuk, and Darlene Zinnick; grandchildren: Jeffrey, Bradley (Kristjana), Shauna, Charlene, Amanda, and Justin; and great-children: Kolby, Kayllin, Logan, and Nicholas. He was predeceased by his parents William and Mary Zinnick; his brothers Walter, Alex, Frank, Steve, and Bernie, and his sister, Nellie. John was born and raised in Melrose on the family homestead where many fun times and happy memories were made. He met Frances of West Melrose and they were married in 1946. John and Frances made their home together on John's family farm and together they raised their children there. While raising his family, John worked in the construction industry until 1970 when he decided to join CN in Transcona, where he worked until he retired in 1985. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years, including farming until the age of 80, helping his children build their own homes, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved spending time with their Papa. John greatly enjoyed all the visits he received from family, friends and neighbours over the years. He loved to reminisce about the past. We could always rely on John to set us straight on many topics. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Cooks Creek, with Father Charles Fillion presiding. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be John's grandchildren. We would like to thank the paramedics and the staff at Selkirk Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John's memory to a charity of your choice. Dad - your legacy is one of love and of strength of character. You will forever be in our hearts. We love you and will miss you Dad/Papa. Seasons Funeral Chapel - OakBank

We have fond memories of times together at the family homestead.
