JEAN ELIZABETH FARION Peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, Jean passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital at the age of 83 years. Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael, and her parents Katherine and Walter Rosmus. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Douglas (Janice), Dennis (Phyllis), Alvin (Audrey), Marlene Kormilo (Stan); her dear grandchildren Jennifer, Bradley, Melanie (George), Tyson, Haley, Michelle, Stacey (Joey) and precious great-grandchildren Madison, Tanner and Cali. Jean is also survived by her brothers, Casey (Irene) Rosmus of Spruce Grove, AB, Ted (Helen) Rosmus of Melrose, and Wally Rosmus of Brandon. Jean was born on June 26, 1929 in Melrose, MB where she was raised. In her younger years she worked in Winnipeg at some restaurants and a nursing home. She married Mike and together they moved to Highland Glen where they farmed and raised their family. After Mike's passing, she ran a vegetable stand and continued on with the family farm and went to work at Freshwater Fish to support her family of four children who were quite the handful. Jean had her own strict and stubborn ways and nobody ever pulled the wool over her eyes. She passed this and her strong work ethic to her children. She always said, You know where the Farion's live. Just look for the black rubber marks on the highway in the front of the driveway . Jean was known for the beautiful cross-stitched pictures, quilts and crafts. She was an avid gardener of vegetables and flowers, which she shared with her family. She was a great cook and baker, her perogies, cabbage rolls, meatballs, pereshki buns, poppy seed cake and brownies were loved by all who tasted them. She made many Barbie dresses for her granddaughters and always had toast with homemade jam with them before bed. She was always available for watching over her grandchildren who got away with nothing under her watchful eye. She worked very hard all of her life, and can finally rest. Thanks to the staff at Selkirk General Hospital for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 18 Pine Avenue in Garson, Manitoba, with Father Charles Fillion presiding. Interment to follow at the parish cemetery. Jean's pallbearers will be Bradley Farion, Tyson Farion, Russell Rosmus, Arnie Bukowski, Joey Kunzie and Stan Kormilo. Seasons Funeral Chapel - OakBank

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Jean will be sadly missed; each Halloween I would take the boys there and she would share in some stories of past Halloween's and tell of how her kids loved to go out and get candy. She was a dear friend to my mom and dad, and now they can all play crib up above. My sympathies go out to you; losing someone precious is never easy...
