We met Andrea & Ron through New Comers in the late 80s when we moved to Mississauga from Calgary. Andrea's Mom used to come for holidays (from Winnipeg) to Andrea and Ron's. Louise soon met Andrea and Ron's friends and we had quite a few dinners and card parties together. She was always smiling and enjoyed any of the card games we played. This is a very sad time for all of your family with the loss of your Mother and Grandmother - she will be missed! God Bless!- Love Nell and Richard Murphy - Posted by: Nell & Richard Murphy, Cambridge ON (Friend of Andrea & Ron and family) on: Sep 03, 2012

Grams was an amazing person. Going deaf from scarlet fever at 9 years old didn't stop her from graduating from a hearing high school, learning to lip read better than anyone I have ever met, and raising 2 children and living her life to the fullest. She loved to play cards, and would have so much fun with us playing crazy 8's, euchre and gin rummy. She loved to also play scrabble, and was always calling out cheaters! She loved the color mauve and butterflies, loved to knit, and was an avid reader, especially of murder mysteries and mystery romances! She was an amazing bowler, and played way into her senior years, with many trophies to show for it! She wrote and supported the deaf community, and had many friends with whom she would celebrate monthly birthdays and special occasions, by heading to The Olive Garden (her favorite) or The Keg. She also had the best luck - at casinos, playing the lottery, scratching to win - you name it, she had the luck of the Irish (I mean Polish!) Most of all, I will remember my Grams for always being a person I admired, for being a woman who overcame so many obstacles to live life to the fullest, who enjoyed every moment, and never felt sorry for herself. She was an inspiration to me, and I will never forget her. She inspires me to be grateful and thankful for everything I have, every day of my life. - Posted by: Holly Malyk (Granddaughter) on: Sep 01, 2012
