Condolences & Memories (21 entries)

  • I am deeply saddened to learn of Andrew's untimely passing. My sincerest condolences go out to his family. Andrew was a professional colleague of mine for at least the past 25 years as one of the leading franchise lawyers in Canada. He was an extremely intelligent and capable lawyer, very practical and greatly respected. Always a pleasure to work with and to seek his counsel. Most importantly, Andrew was a true gentleman who never hesitated to give back to the community in so many ways. He will be missed but always remembered. - Posted by: Frank Zaid (Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, Toronto) (Professional colleague) on: Sep 06, 2012

  • I was shocked to learn of Andrew's passing. He was a distinguished and articulate gentleman who gave so much to his community. It is so sad to see such a fine man pass so unexpectedly and so young. Andy was a friend of our family and in particular my late brother Don. My deepest sympathy to the Ogaranko family. - Posted by: Bob Primeau (Friend) on: Sep 06, 2012

  • It was always a treat to run into Andy - on the lake or in a business situation. Everyone enjoyed his integrity, kind nature, and up-beat personality. The world will be a lesser place for his loss. Our sincerest condolences to Cheryl, Lindsey, and Alexis. • I had barely started a business when I was introduced to Andrew as someone who could provide legal counsel for our upstart company. From that moment 15 years ago to his most recent days he guided, counseled, supported, and advised with sincere interest and concern. He fully participated and steered the company through its dark days and embraced our moments of triumph with gusto. He made everything seem possible and believable. He was a master of his trade and his razor sharp skills always left a deep impression. No matter how busy his schedule, he was never dismissive and with his constant humility, we never felt unimportant among those who shared his world and whirl of activities. He could simultaneously challenge and inspire without airs and always with warm genuine good will and professional friendship. I will so miss the great discussions and his ready laugh. I cannot adequately express our collective feelings of deep sadness or imagine how it will be without Andrew and his significant presence and involvement that impacted so many other lives in so many ways. To his family, our greatest condolences. - Posted by: Maureen Mitchells (Client) on: Sep 05, 2012

  • I was deeply saddened to learn of Andrew's passing. I was named after his mother and my memories of Winnipeg are vivid, especially those of sitting in the family kitchen on Selkirk Avenue, talking to Andrew about future hopes and dreams. My parents were particularly gratified to have spent time with him when he worked in Lynn Lake where they lived, before he pursued his law degree. My deepest condolences go to his family during this most difficult time. - Posted by: Claudia Gratton (Cousin ) on: Sep 03, 2012

  • I was shocked to learn of Andrew's passing and extend condolences to the Ogaranko family. I got to know Andrew through the Liberal Party in the late 1980s. He was well respected and to whom friends and colleagues turned for wise counsel. He cared deeply for his country and dedicated his service to making it a better place. He will be missed. - Posted by: John Harvard, former Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba (Friend) on: Sep 02, 2012

  • Total shock to all who admired his authentic greetings and descipline to play squash. Sincere appreciation for his contribution to health care Truly a premature and unexpected loss for all - Posted by: Pravinsagar Mehta (Friend) on: Sep 02, 2012

  • Andrew, along with his cousin, my Uncle Myron, were the reasons I pursued a career in law. Andrew inspired me with many quiet comments and sincere actions during my teen years to which I continue to aspire -- service above self. His support of the arts, service to community, and the caring for others in times of need continue to inspire. He set a wonderful example for others, one that will serve his daughters well as they come to appreciate the breadth of his legacy's reach and lasting impact. - Posted by: Tom Ogaranko (Cousin) on: Sep 02, 2012

  • Andrew and I went to school together from 6th grade when I moved into the neighborhood...one street over from Selkirk where the Ogarankos lived until we moved away from Winnipeg in the 11th grade.
