INA LENA DUBESKI November 18, 1929 - September 7, 2012 With her loving family by her side, Mom passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital on Friday, September 7, 2012. Ina is survived by her children, Debbie Bedard (Wilf), Margaret, Nick (Nancy), Chris (Juliana) and John (Diana). She leaves behind her precious grandchildren, Jamie Carnegie (Sean), Lisa Wise (Scott), Olivia, John and Emma Dubeski and her great-grandchildren, Meghan Carnegie, Abby and Lucas Wise. She will also be missed by her sisters, Margaret Rask (Willis), Marilyn Kerbrat, Carolyn Legacy (Alec) and brother George (Kathleen). Mom was predeceased by her parents Hans and Emma Ruth, brothers Harold, Donald, Richard and Harvey, her sister Audry, brothers-in-law John Kerbrat and George Labelle. Ina was also predeceased by her husband John Dubeski. Ina was born in Nipigon, Ontario, and had many fond memories of her childhood there. She married John in 1949, and soon after they moved to Winnipeg and started their family. Moving to Selkirk in 1960, Mom soon found herself raising her five children on her own. She was a tireless worker and loving single mother to her children. Starting as a nurse's aide at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre, she eventually assumed a position operating the Home Unit, where she enjoyed helping patients with their daily living skills for many years until her retirement in 1995. The A.A. 12 Step Program was also a big part of her life. She had the respect and love of many people she met and mentored during her life of sobriety, proudly celebrating 45 years this past August 28. Mom was a feisty and fun loving lady and always tried to impart the best things in life to her children and others around her; we loved her so much. Throughout her life she had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed travelling and camping and took every opportunity she had to return to Nipigon to be with her family. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11 at the Christ Church Anglican, 227 McLean Ave, Selkirk, Manitoba. A luncheon will follow the memorial service in the Anglican Church Hall. Her ashes will be interred beside those of her father Hans, back in her beloved Nipigon. Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • Heartfelt condolences to Debbie, Wilf and family, Margaret, Chris and Nick. I met Ina through the 12 step program about 40 years ago and we became very good friends. Unfortunately, although best intentioned, we lost touch with each other several years ago and the broken thread was never retrieved. I was shocked to see her obituary in the Selkirk Record tonight and regret not having attended the memorial service, but I knew too late. My thoughts are with you as you travel the road through grieving. - Posted by: Joyce Ward (Friend) on: Sep 12, 2012
