HELEN JACKMAN It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Helen Jackman on September 9, 2012 at the Grace General Hospital. Helen was predeceased by her husband George, granddaughter Deborah, sister-in-law Pat Morrissette and both parents. Left to celebrate her life are daughter Dawn (Rick), grandchildren Jason (Vickie) and Crystal, brothers Percy and Ken (Bonnie) Morrissette, nephews Jeff (Melanie), Ken, Michael and great-nephew Joshua. Mom was born in Winnipeg and spent most of her life in Charleswood and married George the love of her life. George's job with the railroad took them to Thunder Bay before moving back to Charleswood to begin their family. She worked many years with Safeway, Dominion and Loblaw's in the meat and Deli departments before her retirement. George and Helen were both members of the Charleswood Legion which was an activity that Helen continued after George's passing, serving on the Ladies Auxiliary for many years as well as holding the office of President. She was also interested in the Charleswood Horticultural Society and the Charleswood Historical Society. Mom was very proud to receive her certificate for her 50 years in Charleswood. She also enjoyed her hours spent with friends over coffee at the local gathering place. Mom had many health challenges during the last few years of her life but was very happy with her move to the Eastern Star Chalet. She made many new friends and enjoyed many hours visiting over their coffee group. Our family would like to express their thanks to the nurses and doctors at the Grace General Hospital for their care and compassion during Mom's final days. We would also like to thank Dr. Robert Cronin for all his care and knowledge, the folks at the Heart Failure Clinic and the Renal Health Clinic for their time and caring. A memorial service will be held in her honour at 2:00 p.m. on September 13, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities or the Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715

So very sorry to learn that your mother passed away. Heard so many lovely stories from Mum and Dad about both of your parents. I know your Mum took a trip with them to Niagara Falls, etc. Saw many pictures and know they had a wonderful time. We met your Mum briefly at that time. Our deepest condolences to you and your family at this time. Love: Rick and Sharon - Posted by: Rick and Sharon Jackman (Our mother was your mother's sister-in-law, John Jackman my father was your father's brother) on: Oct 10, 2012
