Jessie was the 7th of eight children for Mary and Onofry Wargaty. She grew up on the Wargaty homestead, beside what is now Wargaty Lake in Elphinstone (Wisla), MB with her six brothers, Mike, Dmytro, Harry, Nick, Peter and John and one sister, Tinnie, all who worked the farm and fished the abundant lake. She married John Bain of Sandy Lake, MB on August 1, 1943 and they had nine children - sons, Rudy, Edward (Val), Alvin, Ernest, Barry (Bonita) and Jerry and daughters, Audrey, Grace (Don) and Patsy (Robert). The family lived in Sandy Lake, MB, then Fairlight, SK and Onanole, MB. While living in Onanole, Jessie worked during the summer at the resorts in Clear Lake, MB. In 1964, she moved to Winnipeg, MB in order for her two deaf sons to attend Manitoba School for the Deaf. She worked at St. Amant Centre for many years, preparing and serving meals for the Sisters and retired in 1986. Besides raising her own seven children, she helped raise grandchildren and great-grand-children and cared diligently for her brothers. Jessie moved to Deaf Centre Manitoba to be closer to her brothers. She lived in an apartment and then, most recently on the second floor PCH. Jessie will be fondly remembered for her hard work, her giving nature, her generous smiles as well as her Ukrainian meals like homemade pies, holopchi and perohi. Jessie was predeceased by her parents; her children, Audry, Rudy and Edward Bain; her husband John; her brothers, Mike, Dmytro, Nick, Peter, John and her sister, Tinnie Campbell; grandson, Darren Bain and great- granddaughter, Ashley Bain. The family wishes to thank the admin-istration and front desk staff at Deaf Centre Manitoba for their abundant patience, assistance and cooperation, the Personal Care staff for their love and exceptional, attentive care and compassion, as well as her many friends from the St. Francis de Sales Manitoba Catholic Church of the Deaf.
