IRENE ANNETTE BERARD (nee TURENNE) February 1, 1927 - September 8, 2012 Peacefully on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at the age of 85, our dear Maman, Mémère passed away at the Morris Hospital. Irène is lovingly remembered by her daughter Murielle, husband André and Mémère of Yvan (Suzanne), Rossel, and Serge (Rachel), and her very precious great-granddaughters Kylee and Raelyn. Irène is also survived by her brother Robert (Alice) Turenne, brothers and sisters-in-law, Aline Lahaie, Jean, Fernand, Henri, Luc, Réal (Eva), Raymond, and Alfred (Suzanne) Bérard. Irène was predeceased by her husband Samuel in April 2005, her parents, Florida and Adélard, brothers Jos-Denis, Marcel, Auguste, Gérard, Gilbert and André (Magella) Turenne, sisters, Cécile (Emilien) Préfontaine, Lucie (Bill) Catellier, Simone (Jos) Maynard and Jeannine (Jos) Zabloski, in-laws Marguerite Bérard, John Lahaie, Claude Bérard, Bernadette Bérard, Céline Bérard. Mémère was born and raised in St-Pierre Jolys. Mémère was a prolific seamstress in her day. The machine was always humming! She sewed quite a few wedding dresses (her daughter included from a picture in a Bridal magazine). Mémère was also very crafty, be it knitting, crocheting, quilting, and later in life cross stitching. If she was not at her sewing machine, you could find her sitting in her chair watching her stories all the while knitting away. The family has all been blessed with beautiful hand crafted items. Mémère was also an avid Bingo player, she rarely missed Bingo! When Papa and Maman built their new home, another passion came about, gardening! This is what she missed the most when her failing health saw her move to the Manoir, but even then she managed to put in a few flowers and bulbs. Family was important to Mémère, rarely would she miss a birthday, or special event in her family. Mémère, the last few years were very challenging for you, but you had perseverance and courage that kept you going. We often wondered where you found the strength. We will miss you, but are comforted in knowing, there is no longer any pain, you may now rest, it is well deserved. Prayers will take place on Thursday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 15 at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre Roman Catholic Church with Father Antoine Vo Van Hoa officiating. Interment of the cremated remains will follow in the St. Pierre Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Samir Migally and the Nursing Staff at the Centre Medico De Salaberry Health Centre and the Home Care Workers, for the excellent care and compassion given to Maman. Thanks also to the staff at the Morris Hospital for your compassion during our difficult time. Irène laisse dans le deuil sa fille Murielle et son époux André, ses trois petits-fils, Yvan (Suzanne), Rossel, et Serge (Rachel), et deux arrières petites-filles Kylee et Raelyn. Elle laisse aussi un frère Robert (Alice) Turenne, ses belles-soeurs et beaux-frères Aline Lahaie, Jean, Fernand, Henri, Luc, Réal (Eva), Raymond, and Alfred (Suzanne) Bérard. Irène fut précédée par son époux Samuel en 2005, ses parents Adélard et Florida, ses frères Jos-Denis, Marcel, Auguste, Gérard, Gilbert et André (Magella) Turenne, soeurs, Cécile (Emilien) Préfontaine, Lucie (Bill) Catellier, Simone (Jos) Maynard et Jeannine (Jos) Zabloski, belles-soeurs et beaux-frères Marguerite Bérard, John Lahaie, Claude Bérard, Bernadette Bérard, Céline Bérard. Mémère a résidée à St-Pierre toute sa vie. La machine à coudre à Mémère travaillait souvent double temps. Elle était excellente couturière et a cousu plusieurs robes de mariées (sa fille incluse d'une photo d'une revue). Maman avait des doigts de fées, pour le tricot, le crochetage, des courtes pointes, et plus tard dans vie pour le petit point. Si elle n'était pas en train de coudre, vous pouviez souvent la voir assise dans sa chaise à tricoter en écoutant ses histoires . Nous avons tous appréciées les chefs-d'oeuvre qu'elle a créés pour nous. Il faut dire qu'elle était une passionnée du Bingo. Elle manquait très rarement le Bingo. Quand Papa et Maman ont construit leur nouvelle maison, elle a trouvé une nouvelle passion, le jardinage. C'est ce qu'il y a manqué le plus quand elle a déménagée au Manoir. Mais elle a réussi à se faire une petite plate-bande de fleurs. Mémère, oubliait rarement un anniversaire ou un évènement de famille. Les dernières quelques années ont été très difficile, mais elle continuait avec une persévérance et du courage qui était remarquable. Tu peux te reposer maintenant c'est bien méritée, il n'y a plus de mal, tu vas nous manquer. Les prières seront récitées le jeudi 13 septembre à 19h au Salon mortuaires Desjardins, 357, rue Des Meurons. La messe des funérailles aura lieux le samedi 15 septembre en l'église de St-Pierre à 14h30. L'inhumation des cendres suivra au cimetière de St-Pierre. Merci beaucoup à tout le personnel des soins à domicile et du Centre medico sociale DeSalaberry de St-Pierre-Jolys, ainsi que le Dr. Samir Migally pour les excellents soins que vous avez donné à Mémère.
