VELMA ENGLISH On Wednesday, September 12, 2012, peacefully in her sleep Velma passed away at the age of 91 years. Left to cherish Velma's memories are her five children, Roberta English, Leslie Sandney, Sydney English, Michael (Patti) English and James English; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey (Cathy) Sandney, Cindy (Erwin) Harmatski, Allyson (Eric) Luedtke, Lisa Davies, Lauren English, Jesse English and Kirsten English; as well as nine great-grandchildren, J.J. Sandney, Kali Sandney, Ryan Berens, Aaron Harmatski, Teemu Berens, Breanne Harmatski, Riley Harmatski, Leigha Harmatski and Hannah Luedtke. Velma was predeceased by her father and mother, Emil and Ada Hagglund; sister Alice McRae; and long time family friend Ernest Anderson. On July 20, 1921 Velma was born in Winnipeg. She moved to Sweden as a young child but at the age of 16 returned to Winnipeg. Throughout her adult life, while raising her children, she lived in the United States, British Columbia and Ontario and in her final years moved back home to Winnipeg. Velma's biggest passion in life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would enjoy spending hours upon hours baking, sewing and knitting for them. She was also an avid reader and shopper. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to Glenda Peterson for all her love and support throughout the years towards their mother and family. We would also like to thank Access Transcona for all the care that was given to her, especially Gregg, Michelle, Stella, Verna and Beverly. Your care and support made it all possible. Thank you! In compliance with Velma's wishes there will be no Funeral Service. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
