As a tribute, I would like to remember some of "Grandma Donkin's" wonderful qualities. I met her 32 years ago, and what touched me most was her love for her family, her generosity, and no-nonsense perspective on life. She never squandered money needlessly, but supported her family and she supported the Arts. I got to see my first ballet thanks to her, as Maryanne's close friend. We saw many more after that. I remember all the wisdom Grandma Donkin had, and she generously dished it out. Other memories: the wonderful meals she could create from her modest kitchen! The awesome smell of lily of the valley at the side of her Elmwood home. Her love of anything from a bee! Being in a bowling league way longer than I thought was possible! Finally, I really appreciate how she thought ahead, in order to take care of business even when she was gone. Grandma Donkin "had her ducks in order." She was a strong woman, with a strong heart, and I loved her in my own way very much. Sending all my love and compassion to Maryanne and all the family - especially William and Mom.
