MEROSLAW (RUSSELL) WERBENIUK May 23, 1931 - September 11, 2012 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Meroslaw (Russell) Werbeniuk of Woodridge, MB at the St. Boniface Hospital on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Russell is survived by his wife, Irene, son Morris (Elaine), son Dean and daughter Tracey, grandchildren Curtis (Bianca), Chris (Kristen), Jordyn and Emily, great-granddaughter Lauklyn, sister-in-law Jeannine Werbeniuk, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Nick and Steve and sisters Mary Wowchuk and Olga Werbeniuk. Russell was born in Sandilands, MB on May 23, 1931, to Pauline and Wasyl Werbeniuk and lived his whole life in Woodridge. He spent many years working in bush camps and as a heavy equipment operator on construction sites as far north as Arctic Red River and the Alaskan border. He also drove truck for Nelson River and BACM. After retirement, his love for the bush led him to his hobby of cone picking, which he did for over 20 years. We would like to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Stafford-Tiki and the ICU2 team at St. Boniface Hospital for their tremendous efforts and compassion. A memorial service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Father Owen Steeves presiding.
