Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLARRY ORRIN CLEVEN With profound sadness, the family announces the sudden passing of Larry Orrin Cleven, beloved husband and father, on September 16, 2012. He was predeceased by his father, Orrin Cleven, in 1992. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Leslie, his children Brian and Raegan, mother Betty, sisters Darlene (Alan Widger), Laurie Chia, Bonnie Yee (Ken), brother Kim, and many nieces and nephews. Larry was born on January 12, 1953 in Kimberley, BC. Being from a military family, Larry lived in several cities during his childhood including Edmonton, CFB 2 Wing in France, Red Deer, and finally Winnipeg. It was in Winnipeg where Larry met his soul mate, Leslie, who he later married in 1976. They set down roots in Charleswood where together they raised their two children. His children were his pride and joy. In them, Larry instilled good work ethic and moral values, making them the successful people they are today. Larry graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. He furthered his education by obtaining a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering at the University of Regina. He was a brilliant Engineer, specializing in Water and Wastewater Treatment. With a kind and gentle heart, Larry loved all animals, especially Labrador Retrievers. He participated in training many retrievers with one of his most noted accomplishments being his field trial champion. Larry had amazing talent, which was reflected in his many hobbies and personal works. He built two houses in Regina and fully renovated his daughter's new home in Winnipeg. He was a gifted craftsman, having built many musical instruments, high fidelity speakers and amplifiers, and fine home furniture. He could truly accomplish anything he put his mind to. He is extremely missed and loved by his family. A celebration of Larry's life will take place on Friday, September 21, 2012, at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery) at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society.
